RNR and Superman SF Holland.

I'm guessing Disney only has the rights to the exact track layout of Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, and Superman is not an exact clone--same general track layout, but different reported dimensions:

RnRC:

Length (feet): 3403'
Height (feet): 80'
Inversions: 3
Speed (mph): 57
Duration (m:ss): 1:22
G-Force (g): 5
Acceleration: 0 - 57 mph in 2.8 seconds

Superman The Ride:
Length (feet): 3267' 9"
Height (feet): 84' 8"
Inversions: 3
Speed (mph): 55.9
Duration (m:ss): 2:22
G-Force (g): 5
Acceleration: 0 - 55.9 mph in 2.8 seconds

That is probably how they got away with it...slight modifications.

Actually those numbers aren't exactly right.
They are actually almost identical.
RCDB is a bit off. Superman is not a min. longer than RnRC.
Keep in mind that the numbers Disney releases are approximate.

DID YOU SEE THE GYRO SWING?!!!! OMG! I got tingles from head to toe when I saw that. That is the most evil looking ride I've ever seen. Man, I'll do almost anything but that one freaks me out.

I believe they are talking ride cycle time, and by having two stations as opposed to one, the ride cycle time at MGM would clearly be much shorter...Disney ride cycles are always shorter than you find at slow Six Flags...3 minutes to check lap bars...sigh. It just seems to me this is one logical reason for what seems a clone, which should be illegal.

Man, those first two inversions really get ya! Best part of the ride! (Only ridden Aerosmith version.)

What's great..

What is good news about the duplicate ride is that its helping me create a RockinRollerCoaster simulation in nolimits (truthfully, its pointless, because somebody beat me to it by doing the SFOH...but I digress).

What's really helped is Lee's photo page with the gif's of the ride layout...perfect.

Lee...any better quality one's available (that you've seen?)

P.

Also, thanks Timekeeper for helping people visualize the ride...great call.

I think the two are completley different.

For starters, RnRC is indoors. It's a whole new ball game.

I can remember a UK park - Alton Towers - had the exact same ride in it's park twice, yet one version was indoors and the other was outdoors. I don't remember anyone complaining, or realising it was the same track layout.

And just to note, there is only one of them still standing - the one indoors. They tore the outdoor one down years ago.

Nah. Vekoma made those available in the past. Haven't seen any more.

On a side note...the new track for SM at Disneyland is just plain odd looking. Jim at Westcoaster says that on curves...the rails bank but the spine doesn't. Odd.

Vekoma is.

And as for the RnR and SFOH Superman ride, I bet that less than 1% of the population realize that it's a clone, and even less than that have been on both to be able to legitimatly complain about it.

There is a slight difference in the two designs though. RnR has one more brake zone, allowing four train operation, whereas Superman does not.

And yes, Steve, you were correct, the layout was designed in conjuction with WDI. It was a partnership between the two.

Hey Lee, thanks for looking.

I like Jim's site, finally updated it.

Although that sounds bizarre...structurally, that's actually brilliant...makes your supports a lot easier to fabricate and simpler to install (save time I would imagine as well). That is very, very clever.
