Rivers of Light

Opinions differ widely on Rivers of Light. For me, the show is rich in visual imagery, and is very much message-driven. It is a more subtle and contemplative experience, rather than the more in-your-face nighttime spectaculars like Happily Ever After, Reflections of Earth, and Fantasmic. My thought is that it is worthy of seeing at least once, and is a pleasant way to end the day at Animal Kingdom.

I love RoL and still don't understand all of the negativity towards it. There's obviously no fireworks because of the animals, but it's still a wonderful change of pace for a Disney nighttime show and ties in perfectly with the theme of AK. I wouldn't worry.
I very much agree! And its message is very much representative of what Animal Kingdom is all about!

We thought it was okay, but a one and done for us. We might stop if we had nothing else planned, but to me it wasnt so spectacular that we would waste a FP on it again. Maybe check out a video of it on YouTube and see if it wows you enough to want to see it in person.

Watch YouTube videos of it.Me, well I’d skip it. It was one and done for us, nothing spectacular. I wish I had watched YouTube videos of it before wasting a fast pass :( . But on the flip side you might be part of the love it group. If you aren’t seeing it is there anything else you know you’d love to do on the last night? Weigh your options but if there’s nothing else you might as well see it.

YouTube videos do not do it justice so I wouldn’t advise someone to ever watch it on there to decide prior to. Plus it takes away the element of surprise over watching it for the first time in person. It’s only a 15 min-20 min show so does not waste much time especially when having the dining package you don’t have to wait in line ahead for long ahead of time. Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. :)

I agree 100%. In my opinion it’s an awesome way to spend the last night of an anniversary trip. @Ksearcy your description is the best I’ve read. It is beautifully rich and not in your face as you’ve said. Tiffins has become a favorite of ours and I think dinner there with Rivers of Light afterwards is about as romantic as you can get as far as a nighttime spectacular.

To each their own :) I prefer to watch ahead to know if it’s something of interest to me. I never feel like it’s ruining anything since everything is far better in person. But gives someone idea if it’s their cup of tea. Especially if they are on the fence and have limited time. But I agree if there is nothing they are missing by seeing it they might as well just go watch it.

I really loved Rivers of Light. I almost didn’t make time for it with the bad reviews I had read but I’m so glad I did. It’s relaxing and beautiful and I loved the music. I would recommend just watching at least a little bit on YouTube to see if it is something you’d enjoy.
