Rise closes 2 hours early

Went to rise after fireworks “sorry rise closes at 10:00 pm” - operating hours are indeed 8-10 on the app. That’s one way to save money.

And just when I was getting cocky about DL being so superior to WDW! :p

WDW's rise operates a similar amount of hours as DHS usually closes 9-10pm.

And who was the WDI engineering executive that sold this product to the parks for purchase?

And when that WDW executive sold this ride system to the parks, did they know and/or admit that it could only operate for about 12 hours per day in parks that are routinely open to paying customers 16 hours per day?

And finally, is that WDI executive still employed by Disney? Because I certainly wouldn't listen to them or buy what they were selling the next time they pitched a ride idea to the parks for purchase/funding. 🤔

Oh I think the ride can operate, it’s just too labor intensive.

I was under the impression it closes earlier than the rest of the park as the line is always so long? If it closed at actually park closing the last guests wouldn’t be leaving until around 2am

This was my impression as well. In the earlier days when the lines were 2-3 hours long I can understand cutting them off early. The fact they've pushed it up to 10pm when it used to be 8 or 9pm says that lines aren't getting as long, most likely due to the new presence of MMRR.

I've always wondered about the shut-down procedure for the attraction. After the last group disembarks do they just stop everything and put all the vehicles in a complete shut-down mode since they won't be on charging pads overnight? I doubt they are all directed into a "charging" room. I also wonder if why it sometimes doesn't open right with the park because a vehicle or two ran out of charge and they need to quick charge them to make it to the next charging pad (which if I'm not mistaken are only at the points where you get on and off the vehicles). I'm just speculating, but would love to know the ops on that attraction.

There's "parking" spots throughout the ride where vehicles can be moved to and charge. There's a pair in the cannon room and I believe some in the AT-AT room. Also loading and unloading has charging. Then the long hallway to the disco room (and loading) is charging enabled I believe. I'm pretty sure they have everything covered and accounted for.

The delayed openings may have to do with cycling the ride and determining if to use B-mode for Kylo or not. He's the main reason these days for breakdowns I believe, maybe the elevators also contribute.

At HS, Rise always opens with the park and closes with the park official hours. Some days it stays open longer (eg. 9:30 close stays open til like 9:45pm). Weird that DL deviates from this with their longer hours.

The lines for rise are often about the same as Indy, Space Mountain, and Mickeys Runway.

Capacity, reliability, many things can effect this.
Maybe I’m wrong but I was pretty certain Rise closed earlier to not run hours past official park closing
That would make rise different than all other attractions in Disneyland park and in the past attractions always allowed people to join the line until park closing.

I know, but when it opened it regularly had 3/4 hour waits and still holds long queues throughout the whole day. I don’t feel you’d queue hours for Space Mountain at 11pm.
It’s a long attraction too if you count from the very first pre show

EDIT: I just checked the app and it has a 50 minute standby queue. I’m shocked, I genuinely thought it still held multi hour waits all day

As did Flight of Passage - I joined a 2 hour wait at like 11 pm or midnight that summer and was one of the last to leave the park.

Space was a 70 minute wait when I joined it about an hour before park closing the other night. Right now Indy has a longer wait then rise (as it should, with all working effects again it’s definitely the better attraction!)

How far ahead does the individual Lightning Lane go for Rise at DL? As it isn't part of Genie+ it likely benefits from a much better standby to LL ratio than other rides and hence a lower standby wait time.

Why is Kylo so problematic? Is it the animatronic itself as I don't even think it's that impressive... it just stiffly waves its arms around a bit? Or is it the collapsing ceiling effects?
