Riding a ride that broke down?

I have always wanted to ask this question because it has never happened to me before, but I know it has definitely occurred before in the parks. The question is has anyone ever been on a ride where the ride has broken down and you had to walk out of the ride through the emergence exit?

I have been on rides where they have stopped like the Haunted Mansion or Spaceship Earth many times only for it to start back up again in a short period of time, but never have I ever had to be removed from a ride and walked out through the emergency exit. I was just wondering what the experience was like if any of you have ever experienced it.
Alice and Wonderland at DL... the ride stopped and after about 10 mintues lights come on and a CM starts walking through directing everyone to leave walk out. I still thought it was odd that such a simple ride would crap out, but it did.

Stranded on People Mover in MK. Had to wait for about 30 minutes for the decision to be made to get us out and escort us down the stairs. Of course, all was hush hush down the stairs so we wouldn't "ruin the magic" 😄 for anyone. We actually had a nice rest in our People Mover vehicle as we waited for a Cast Member to reach us. They only took one car at a time, rather than sending in an army of CM's to evacuate all of us together.

The only other ride in which we had to exit and walk out was on Test Track several years ago. It was "breaking down" on a regular basis at that time.

It happened to me one time, but not at Disney, it was at Universal Island of Adventure, I went to the Forbidden Journey Ride at the Harry Potter Land and at the moment when you goes to the quidditch screen, some asian guy vomited and the ride stopped for 5 minutes approx. (not in my carriage, lol), it wasn't broken but the ride stopped and then the attraction then continues... the best thing of this story it was that Universal give me the permission to ride it again without making the queue.

Not WDW.....but we were stuck almost upside down on the Forbidden Journey at Uni for 20mins.

Lights came on staff were running around on the upper rafters. Was cool.

Never been evacuated from what I can remember, but in 2018, Space Mountain’s exit ramp was walled off and we had to walk through a temporary unthemed walkway to get back into Tomorrowland. Kinda felt similar to an evac exit.

A few years ago my family and I were evacuated from Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin in DL. The cars came to a stop and within seconds of stopping you heard the loud click of all the maintenance lights coming on. No idea what ended up happening but it was very short from the cars coming to a stop and the CMs coming around and getting us to evac.

We got stuck on the people mover once. It was right when you enter the space mountain area. We were stuck for about 30 minutes. We had to evacuate the ride.

I walked off of Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom. We got stopped next to the first sight of the carnotaurus. It was like a fire drill from when we were kids. A cast member came over and made it so we could unbuckle. We came off the ride by row and walked single file to the nearest exit. The animatronics were still active so it was pretty fun seeing them move around while we walked past. They then gave us a fast pass to any ride.

One time we were on transformers at universal orlando, the sound went out completely, the 5 min later the screen froze right in the biggest screen/set. The computer system actually crashed an the biggest microsoft desktop screen saver ever, popped as big as a wall, lol. We had to evacuate, there were only 3 of us, but they gave us 8 fast passes to come back later.

At Disneyland, my husband and I had just started Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, literally hadn’t even made it through the first set of doors, when the entire ride stopped, music and all. They must’ve started from the end and worked their way to the beginning to let people out, because we sat there for a few minutes. When they finally got to us and released us, they said to come back through the ride exit later and tell them we had to be evacuated, and we would get to go back on the ride without waiting in line.
It felt so unofficial and like we were gaming the system when we did go through the exit later, but they believed us and we got to ride all the way through to hell and back!

Husband and I have always wanted to evac a ride, and of course the one we get is when we were three steps from the start. 😂

I was in DL this November and we got evacuated from Toy Story Mania and the Cars ride. We waited for a while and eventually cast members came to get us out of the car and walked us through the ride an to an exit. At the exit we received new FP. It was pretty cool to walk around the Carsland ride.

Not me, but DH and DS. A few months after Tower of Terror opened, in 1994, they were on the elevator, went up to the top where the doors opened then closed then dropped down about 3 feet. There the elevator stopped. After waiting about 30 seconds, a voice came over the intercom that the ride had malfunctioned, please stay seated, etc. Remember this was when TOT was new, so DH and DS hadn't ridden it before, they didn't know if it had really malfunctioned or was this part of the "act". Soon afterwards, the elevator was very slowly lowered all the way down, the guests were walked backstage, and immediately given another ride, where things functioned as they should. At that time, DH and DS took the second ride, but since that day they haven't ridden ToT again!

Never evacuated but on Space Mountain one trip, the ride stopped just as we started just before the acceleration zone and not started up the first hill. Sat there for about ten minutes in the dark listening to voice say it was temporary. Then, the lights came on! The place is amazing. All you see is support structure and the track in a huge open space like an arena. You don't notice the ride lighting or speakers that make the ride. Then they cleared the ride by starting the trains up one by one to get them out, so we saw the whole ride with the lights on. We could see every drop, hill, and turn before we got to it. It was really amazing.

Not sure if this counts, we took a bus from WDW Hollywood Studios to Magic Kingdom. The bus broke down, I thought it was really gonna mess up our day, but it only took 40min or so and another bus came along an got us. But what actually made it a good thing was, they gave everyone a special paper written fast pass for any ride. I took a pic. This turned out to be awesome because I couldnt book any FP because they were all gone for the big rides in MK.

One of my favorite evacs was from the top of Spaceship Earth. Going around the long and winding road (showing my age) was an experience. I will be posting that video on youtube soon. During Hurricane Gordon we were on the People Mover and as we got into Space Mountain we saw all the lights were on and people were being evacuated from the ride onto the catwalks. Also appearing on youtube soon.

2 different times

- Universe of Energy, halfway thru the ride, someone had a medical issue, the ride stopped, all the lights came on, they evacuated the cars and we walked out
- DLR Toy Story Midway Mania, not long after opening, my second ride of the night. First time we had a brief stop, but then it continued. Second time, it stopped, we must've sat there for 20 minutes before they turned the lights on, and they evacuated each car one by one. They open the door, and flip down a very narrow set of steps (3 steps?) which was a challenge for me, since I use crutches to assist my walking - luckily after the first time they told me to keep them with me, and 2 CMs helped me so I did not fall. We were close to the exit anyway, so leaving was not an issue.
