Riding a ride that broke down?

Maybe you can give me some of your evacuation luck. Yeah, I understand that sometimes the continuous moving rides stop to assist guests that are using assistive devices to get on the ride and they have to stop the ride or like you said someone has fallen.

One of the most notorious ride stoppages for guest issues is PeopleMover. MOST of the ride stops on that attraction are caused by guests taking too long at unload forcing the attraction to be stopped. The worst version of that I ever saw was the attraction having to be stopped 3 times after I got to the top of the ramp before I loaded. Every single time it was caused by guests taking too long to unload.

We didn't get evacuated, but my brother and I got stuck on Ariel's Undersea Adventure in DCA. Twice on the same ride. Once we stopped when we were going down backward in the clam shell for about 10-15 minutes, and then we got stuck again in the Under the Sea room for another 10ish minutes. That was an earworm for the rest of the day.

We were evacuated off of Expedition Everest a few years back. Our car was mid way up the first climb. Very steep walk down, then walk around the track in that starting area. I absolutely love these stories and Expedition Everest getting evacuated from is actually a dream of mine.

We were evacuated off of Expedition Everest a few years back. Our car was mid way up the first climb. Very steep walk down, then walk around the track in that starting area. There are some other threads about ride evacuation that you could find and enjoy reading. They were totally out in open air above the temple and before you arrive at the mountain, the railing was raised up and they had to get out of the cars and walk up to the top of the hill. Not a super long walk but totally out in the open air with no mountain around them.

That must have been an adventure. Probably better than the ride itself for some of the riders.

I have been going to WDW for years now, and the only ride I have every had to be walked off of was Ellen's Energy Adventure. Everything shut down right by the anamatronic Brontosaurus. We all had to get our of our cars and walk out the way we came in.

Well you can definitely say you had a different sort of an adventure on Ellen's Adventure.

We were in the second car and had just reached the temple/pyramid part of that first big climb. CMs had to help us out of the cars one by one. There are steps on the left side of the track and we were led down those, around to the right and past the waterfall. There is a path from that back area (still themed/on stage) that comes out in the little park area where people sit to watch the ride.

From what I can see in Google maps, it appears those same steps go all the way up the lift track to the mountain. That would have been super scary to evacuate from the track in between the temple and the mountain! But, it makes sense to walk up to the mountain as that is less stairs and then you are inside the mountain.

Ellen's Energy Adventure is the only attraction I've been evacuated off as well. In my case, it was in the first room just as the ride began. A kid decided at the last minute that he didn't want to ride and so the kid and his family got up against the instructions of the CM causing an emergency stop and a full evacuation.

We got stuck on two attractions over the years; Delta Dream flight and It’s a Small World. Both time we did not evacuate, and we sat for 20 plus minutes listening to the music. We got stuck on Dream Flight on our Disney moon and once in a while I’ll sing to my DW “We’re gonna take you flying and they’ll be no denyin” that’s as far as I get before I get a pillow chucked at me.

Been stuck on Spaceship Earth before which wasn't too bothersome, especially since the stops were a couple of minutes. The worst for me was that goofy Nemo ride. That goes from kinda dumb to pretty insufferable very quickly!

I have always wanted to ask this question because it has never happened to me before, but I know it has definitely occurred before in the parks. The question is has anyone ever been on a ride where the ride has broken down and you had to walk out of the ride through the emergence exit?

I have been on rides where they have stopped like the Haunted Mansion or Spaceship Earth many times only for it to start back up again in a short period of time, but never have I ever had to be removed from a ride and walked out through the emergency exit. I was just wondering what the experience was like if any of you have ever experienced it.

We were once walked out of the Great Movie Ride when it broke down. We had reached the Western scene. A large number of CMs came and took groups of us out. No problem at all.

I am actually amazed in all the times I have been to Walt Disney World since I only live 30 minutes away I have only been on 3 rides that have completely broken down where I have been taken off the ride. They were Frozen After, Gran Fiesta Tour, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Been stuck on many at WDW (TOT, Everest, Dinosaur, anything with a boat to name a few) but never evacuated, but me and my Husband did get evacuated off of Crush's Coaster at DLP (which is notorious for breakdowns). We were towards one of the last breaks when it just all came to a halt. After 10 minutes of the same music and dizzying light effects the lights came on and we were evacuated off the ride and through some back corridors, mostly painted blue from memory got free fastpasses though

Only other occasion I can think of was Mission: Space a couple years ago. We got seated on the ride, doors shut, everything was silent for 2 minutes and then it opened again and we had to get off and go back into the waiting area. Got on again 5 mins later. Not sure that really counts as an evac. though

Not evacuated, but got stuck on its a small world for about 20 minutes once. Never was the same after.

We got stuck on Space Mountain in 2014. The car just came to a total stop half way through. It was interesting to see it with all the lights on. They did a good job on the evacuation. Cast members came and helped us out of the car and onto a catwalk and then escorted us out. They gave us each an anytime FastPass. This was when FP+ was first starting and you could only get three a day (if I recall ) so that was nice compensation.

From my 2016 trip:
We got stuck on Splash Mountain right before the Laughing Place drop and heard Br'er Bear say "This ain't no laughin place" like 9 times. Then the ride resumed and we went down the drop, and got stuck right after in the Beehive scene. That was about 5 minutes and then we finished the ride as normal. About 20 minutes later when we passed Splash it was broken down.

We got stuck under Madame Leota on Haunted Mansion for about 10 minutes. The funny thing is there was a kid in the buggy ahead of us with some flashlight/wand thing (never got to see what it was) and every time they'd wave it around I'd think it was the CMs coming to get us off the ride.

Gran Fiesta just completely died during our ride. During the middle of the ride city scene all of the screens turned off and all the little doll AAs stopped functioning along with the audio. Our boat kept moving, but everything around us was off. Then in the end scene with the three in concert, the music turned back on, the AAs stayed frozen, and the boats backed up for about 5 minutes and we eventually got back moving.

Spaceship Earth broke down right at the Greece scene and we kept hearing the breakdown spiel over the speakers, and the show froze. This was only for about 3 minutes then everything went back to normal.
