Rider Switch (aka Child Swap) has nothing to do with height

I do not see the "abuse", the whole party waits in line for their turn and 1 person waits off to the side with the child that is not riding and then goes on when the other parent gets off the ride. They have waited for their turn like everyone else and are not cutting in front of anyone. Obviously you can only switch once and then if you want to ride again you have to wait in line.

The abuse comes in when guests who don't have a child at all come and ask for a Rider Switch Pass and are typically given one with no questions ask amongst the business of the average day. The guests now have an instant Fastpass good for 3 people. They then use it very quickly typically leaving the cast member sceptically of if they just gave it to a dishonest person or they will use it later when another cast member would have no idea. This happens everyday almost every hour multiple times.

I was actually denied a rider swap at test track when we were there in June. My whole family was with me when tried to get one, but because my son was tall enough to ride they would not issue one to us. Pretty disappointing. But that is not the first time I was given a hard time about getting a swap. We by no means abuse the system, but my youngest son doesn't have much of an appetite for faster rides.

I don't like that they did that to you. Unless the child is old enough to wait by themselves then they should let you do the child swap.

How old is your son? I'd like to know if they're denying this service to customers when the child is maybe technically tall enough, but still young enough that they could be really scared, or if the kid is actually pretty well past the usual age where they would JUST meet the height requirement. In other words, are they denying it when little kids are involved, or is it bigger kids. A judgement call, I guess, and it shouldn't be set up that way.

My son is nine. And like i said he is tall enough to ride. It is not like he just does not want to ride , he really is afraid. So, the sad ending was I never got to ride with my older kids because a storm came through later and it closed down for the rest of the day.
We spent two days at universal and had no trouble with child swap. They actually have a pretty nice system in place.
