Ridemakerz Opens Today Inside Team Mickey

According to a report I read from someone who works there, Ridemakerz opened their new Marketplace location inside Team Mickey. I originally thought Ridemakerz would have replaced TM, but apparently it just took over some of the store. I'll hopefully try to make it over there sometime this week for a closer look...

I thought this place was going to get it's own store. My 8 year old was not very impressed with the idea on our last trip but this next one may be different. He has been really getting into the whole RC thing lately. Can you build any Cars cars? I mean like Lightening McQueen, or especially Mater?

The Team Mickey location is expected to be temporary, and they should get their own space later.

Not exactly. Those aren't the ones from RideMakers. I know it sounds weird but I'd rather have the Mater you can build yourself. Those are a great backup option though.

I know they aren't the ridesmakerz ones. But you posted as if there was no other way to get an RC Mater.

Just to let everyone here know. For the money that you spend at ridemakerz, you are paying 10 times more than you should. The RC (radio control) equipment they sell is of extremely poor quality. The antenna on the transmitter is not even close to the length it should be. There is no range to it, and the speed of the vehicles is lousy.

For less money than what you would spend there, you can get a real RC setup. By real I mean a transmitter with 1/4 mile range, and a car or truck that can go 30MPH. Check out traxxas for examples.

We were going to build and buy a car last year. After finding all the parts, and pricing it up. It was going to be over $200 dollars for something that should cost about $25. I told my son that we could build a better vehicle for that kind of money and when we got home we went to the local RC hobby shop and got a The Traxxas Stampede XL-5, for ~$200. Here are the specs of the traxxas.

■Waterproof electronics all-weather, all-season R/C excitement
■New watertight receiver box and 2216
4-channel micro receiver
■Titan® 12-Turn 550 modified motor
■XL-5 electronic speed control
■New gray parts
■Included optional 23-tooth pinion gear
■Revo®-Spec Torque-Control™ slipper clutch
■Talon 2.8" tires with foam inserts pre-glued on mirror-chrome All-Star™ wheels
■New body graphics
■Powder coated white springs
■Waterproof electronics for all-weather driving excitement in water, mud and snow!
■Titan® 12-Turn 550 Motor
■30+mph!* with a 7 cell battery, 25mph with the standard 6 cell battery
■Powerful XL-5 Waterproof Electronic Speed Control
■Now Equipped with Traxxas' High-Current Connector

If you really want to buy a lousy overpriced ridemakerz vehicle, that is fine. I just figured I would enlighten everyone to what is available in the real RC world.
