Ride Wimp Here

Sooo to preface this, I am a ride wimp (as indicated by the thread title). I haven't been back to Disney World since before New Fantasyland was constructed. I am tempted to give Seven Dwarves Mine Train a try (and I think that I probably should so that my boyfriend doesn't have to go alone). I really don't like the drop feeling on roller coasters (so I generally avoid them). However, I love Test Track and Star Tours, so I thought that I might be able to handle a family coaster? I know that neither of those constitutes a roller coaster, but they are the only thrill rides that I am familiar with (because of my likely unwarranted ride fears). Maybe they are totally incomparable, I really don't know. What are your thoughts on Seven Dwarves Mine Train as far as thrill components are concerned? Same question for Dinosaur, I've never tried that one either! Do you think a person with limited ride tolerance could do either of those? I am determined to man up and try some new things!

You might as well try it, it won't ruin your trip if you don't like one ride. As for Dinosaur, it is very similar to Star Tours, so I think you'll be fine.

Dinosaur isn't really a coaster at all. But be warned it is dark and 'scary'. As for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, that is one of the easiest coasters to start with at Disney! It isn't on the same thrill level as Space Mountain, Everest, or Rock 'N' Rollercoaster, but will still provide you with the coaster experience. Drops are small, and it stays relatively slow compared to other coasters. Give it a go!

My son is a ride wimp but since he was 6(he's 17 now), I have no been able to convince him that the Matterhorn in DLR is a roller coaster. It's one of his favorite rides since he first went at 6. 4yrs ago we got him on to Space Mountain at DLR by coercion(LOL) and he LOVES that ride, loves Indiana Jones ride, HATES Splash Mountain, will not entertain the thought of ToT or CA Screamin' but since this will be our first trip to WDW, he has agreed to ride everything at least once and those that he does not like, he will not have to repeat. Rock N Roller coaster should be interesting with him! LOL Good luck and do it at least once to know.

In my opinion, if you can ride Star Tours, you'll have no problem on Seven Dwarves Mine Train or Dinosaur. I can ride and tolerate those, but I absolutely cannot handle Star Tours! I road that once and broke out in a cold sweat and was down for the following few hours. Same thing happened on Body Wars. I simply can't stomach simulator rides for some reason. My guess any of the roller coasters and rides like Dinosaur would be a cakewalk for you.

I too hate roller coasters, make me sick, never been on R&R, Space Mountain or EE, but thinking I may give 7D a try, it is many years since I retried riding one

I am not a fan of coasters. Big Thunder is right at the threshold of what I can handle, but I loved the Seven Dwarves Mine Ride. It's definitely a good coaster for people who aren't coaster fans. It's a very smooth ride and the one big drop isn't that bad. I also like Dinosaur. It isn't really a coaster and doesn't have any real drops, but it is a pretty rough ride, it throws you around a lot.

I am a ride wimp too! I really don't like rollercoasters, drops, spins, or high speeds.
BUT, I did go on the Mine Train, I found myself holding my stomach a few times, but I made it and am here today telling you the story! It was my first coaster. To be honest, I kind of freaked out a bit, but in the end it was kind of fun in a strange way! After, I was shaking a little. But overall, I'm a baby when it comes to those types of rides and don't do them. But I'm glad I was able to experience it.

Thanks guys! You give me hope, I think I'm going to give it a try! I can picture myself wishing it was over because of the drop factor but I might end up really loving it. I guess we'll see!

This is me! We have the same ride tolerance.

@SoKatriotic For 7DMT (and BTMRR - should you choose to try it) ask to sit in the front car. The way the ride works, the train does not release down the drops until the LAST car is up the lift hill. So if you are in the front car, you're a good portion of the way down the hill before the train releases and it cuts down significantly on the drop feeling in your stomach. Also for 7DMT the second lift hill is at a very intimidating angle but it is NOT that bad of a drop. The ride is ridiculously smooth and extremely short so if you don't like it at least it will be over fast!

I'm a ride wimp too. I don't really enjoy Test Track, but 7 dwarves was pretty easy for me. Dinosaur isn't really very fast, the thrills come more from the atmosphere and the dinosaur attacks.

I can do Star Tours... but I can't do big thunder or barnstormer... and I saw the big drop on a video of 7DMT so I won't be going on it... it's the first time I've felt like I am missing out not going on a ride.

I hate and fear the drop at the beginning of PoTC... (I know I know I am a super wimp!)... right before we dropped last time I was holding on to the seat in front of me white knuckled:confused:. I touched the man sitting in front by accident and he turned around, laughed and smiled, and said "don't worry it's not that bad!" I was an embarrassed 28yr old woman... but I disagreed with him.. I knew what was coming and I HATE falling... makes me a ride wimp too!:hungover:

Just a suggestion for you about Dinosaur. If you're nervous about trying it, ask to be put in the front row of the vehicle for your first time. Trust me, there's a huge difference between the first and third rows......
