Ricardo Shillyshally fails to plan

So I work with a fellow...let's call him Ricardo Shillyshally, who has a WDW trip coming up. I overhear him in a conference room being loud and obnoxious about the trip. Turns out he and his family are going to Disneyland in Florida. They are also going to go see the Harry Potter Place and SeaWorld (got that one right at least).

He said they were staying in a condo right beside Disneyland and would drive to the Disney mall and park so he did not have to pay the 10 dollars or whatever they charge to park, then just ride one of the buses or boats. His brother-in-law, let's call him Mr. Tudball, who is providing the condo, told him about how you put your ticket in a machine and get a ticket to come back later to ride the rides, so they don't have to be in a hurry to get to the rides.

Now, this guy is kinda a jerk and I don't know him very well except when in his department I go to someone else if I need anything. Not wanting his family to have a bad trip, I ordered the Unofficial Guide from Amazon and it came yesterday. Today I put it and a Universal and SeaWorld brochure (I always pick up brochures while enjoying my 'Welcome to Florida O.J. at the 1-75 welcome center) on his desk when no one was looking. I figured that was easier than trying to help a know-it-all jerk.

Do you think this was a good idea, or butting in quietly when I should not have butted in at all?

I will wager that Ricardo Shilly-Shally thinks he is smart like his roommate, Dr. Einstein Von Brainstorm, and will just ignore the gesture and all the sound advice provided in the literature you gave him.

It is unfortunate too. I bet Ricardo Shilly-Shally's wife, Tondelaya della Ventimiglia, will probably divorce him after their trip to Disneyland in Florida turns out to be a bust and she finds out it is his fault.

When I hear people are going to WDW and they didn't really do any planning, I have a mini panic attack.

My in-laws are joining us for a trip this Christmas. After gathering materials and guidebooks, I started trying to discuss plans about a year in advance. After a couple months of this, my m-i-l informed me that they would not be staying on resort (a condo about 1/2 an hour away is close enough), would not be eating at Disney (too expensive for what you get), and had no need of fastpasses (she will be using a scooter and can go straight to the front of the line).

Am I a bad person to rejoice a bit when she also told me that she would only be joining us at the parks for two of the days?

If you really tried your best just rejoice that they'll only find you for 2 of the days! I'm wondering what they're calling 1/2 hour. Did they budget in parking, Do they know about changes to the GAC. Pleas tag me in your TR

Not a bad person at all! Sane, yes, bad, nope. I would rejoice too if my MIL was going and only joining us on two days! Lucky for me my MIL has no interest in going anyway. Have a great trip and bite your tongue on those two days you must endure her being there. I am sure she is a nice person, but I know that I would be driven crazy to vacation with my MIL.

Nice of you under the circumstances. Do many in the office know you as a Disney guru? That may the easiest connection if you really do not want him to find out.
