Hi there,

Well, we just got back fro mthe world, and there is tons to share. This may be a different kind of report than people are used to. I am only going to give the High's and low's of each area that we visited, no day to day details, you guys don't need to know when we slept, went to the Bathroom etc...

OK

First Section

Animal Kingdom Lodge

First word out of my mouth was...........WOW!! What a beautiful place. Disney did a verygood job with the look of this resort. My family and I had only previously stayed at all star resorts, so this was a HUGE jump in atmosphere.

The Lobby makes this hotel, HUGE and cavernous with a real feel of being somewhere special. The lobby is big enough as well that it doesn't feel crowded even when it is.

The staff here is wonderful, very nice and courteous, really trying to bend over backwards to make you happy.

Had a pool view room which was not bad at all, we are not room dwellers really, and it would have been a waste of money to stay in a savannah view room. The room itslef was GORGEOUS, all handcarved wood and all. Could have had more light, but during the day was bright enough. Bathroom was a bit small for a deluxe resort I thought, but otherwise ok. The balcony was great, it felt very private. The room itself was soundproofed very well, I heard NOTHING from anyone else. Very Nice. The decor is excellent, and I liked the hidden mickeys in the wallpaper in the bathroom. Room service was wonderful, but pricey, you can get the same food by walking downstairs to the food court. Maid service was good, there was only one day that we came home around 3:00 and it wasn't cleaned yet. I called down to the front desk and some one was there within 5 minutes.

Pool was great, but not heated, it was a bit chilly on some of the nights, it got down to like 55 one night, and it would have been nice to have had a heated pool.

Mara, which is the food court, was excellent. I loved the fact that you ordered your food then sat down and they brought it to you. Very quick fast service. Good variety of foods as well. Price was ok, we ate here about four times I believe.

Boma the mid scale restauraunt was great. Loved thier meats and desserts, I passed on the vegetables and more African tasting foods, just not to my taste. A bit pricey here as well, so if you don't like a wide variety of food, don't eat here. My father is one of these people and he did not enjpy the restaurant as much as we did. So be advised that this is an ecclectic sort of restaurant.

Did not try Jiko, the upscale restaurant, but it looked lovely in decor, I am not one for fancy food, and the price was steep in my opinion.

The savannahs were cool, but animals pick when they are out, so it was spotty, and we just did not want to sit and wait for them. It is a great touch though and you could be walking by and all of a sudden see a giraffe or zebra, and that is very cool. It is not something that I would want to pay for however, so you need to decide if this improtant to you. We are park people, so we don't spend a lot of time in the room.

Transportation here was good for the most part, it really isn't related to the hotel, but we only had to wait once in the hwole 11 days for a bus, and we may hvae had like three crowded busses. There was only one sticky point which I will get into when I do my epcot report.

The gift shop was nice, but again pricey. I wonder if the rates here are higher because of the level of people they believe they get. We got milk and essentials here when we needed them. Big variety of safari and animal kingdom related stuff.

Other guests were simply awesome here for some reason. I have a little thoery I want to share about this. This was the first time I was in Disney where people got up out of thier seats on the bus, where they let other people go in front of them in line, where if the elevator was full they didnt try to press thier way in, where if thier kids were splashing you in the pool, they told them to stop. In short, people were polite and considerate of other people at this resort.

Here is the theory: I have stayed at the all stars several times now because frankly I dont make a lot of money, as you know I am a pastor and we arent in this job for the cash. People that stay in all star seem to be wanting to seize thier Disney expereince, rather than letting it happen naturally, and if that means that they will push everyone else out of the way so that they can grab thier experience, so be it. I don't know if this is because it costs so much, that people are afraid to lose out on something that Disney has to offer if someone else has gotten ahead of them. I like the all star hotel itslef, i truly dislike having to deal with the people and attitudes, I do lovethem but I find my pastoral patience tried by people who think that thier children and thier families are way more important than anyone else in the whole of Disney World. People in the AKL seemed to be relaxed, not concerned with seizing thier expereince. I am that kind of person, I am not goign to rush around trying to push to the front to get in front of other people.

theory continued. So, my theory in short is this, people in the AKL were nicer because they were more relaxed, the all stars seem to breed a mob feeling where people are out for themselves.

Magic Kingdom: Well, this is our favorite park, we did this one maybe 4 days I think, and we did it all. My 1 year old loved the new shows, as well as the old ones. Cinderella's surprise was a great one for her. We watched it like five times. I love my little girl.

Not too crowded most days, did all the rides in the park at least once. Did the space ranger spin for the first time, what a great ride, i scored 133 thousand, cant wait to go back and try again. Took a lot of pictures because a friend of mine and I are building a model train layout to match all the parks. Big undertaking but we are patient!

We did Tony's town square for the character breakfast, loved the food and the palce itself, service was spotty however, and the characters were in a bit of rush, no biggie but for people who like a lot of attnetion this wasnt the place. We were ok with it.

We also did Cinderella's roundtable breakfast, my daughter LOVED this one. Real people not suits helped her to not be shy, snow white was her favorite. Food was good, room was ok, not as ornate as I would have liked, but still a load of fun. A must.

We did the halloween party and that was great, loved the new parades and the trick or treating, the place was PACKED however, and that was not our scene. We did what we could and left around 10. The lights and decorations were awesome.

Bad points about MK, i was VERY DISSAPOINTED that Mcdonalds has wormed thier way into the disney parks. I am very nervous about this trend, I liked the fact that Disney was it's own thing. Dont get me wrong, I love Mcdonalds fries like everyone else, but this is not where I want them.

MK needs another entrance gate, especially with the new security. I had 9:00 am PS for breakfast, arrived at 8:15 and was STILL late. Too many people trying to get in. It didnt help that it was election day!

MK was overall awesome as usual. Characters were very visible and around a lot, lines were not too bad and fast pass was helpful as usual.

More later on!

Agreed. Sadly, this is probably a much needed financial boost for WDW. Like Mickey D's being the sponsor for Dinosaur! If it keeps them from shutting things down, I'll live with it!

I really am also against MickeyD's being in the world....there's a huge difference between sponsoring something and actually having vendor carts in the parks. IMHO, McDonald's is in no way magical or different (they are ALL OVER the place) and has no business being in WDW, land of magicical experinces.

BTW, love the trip report...eagerly awaiting the rest.

Thank You to everyone who agrees with me about McDonalds in the parks! :sohappy:

When I'm at WDW, I am really doing my very best to leave the "real world" behind...

Why on earth would I want average fast-food (at best  ) in my happy place? I don't generally eat McD's now...I certainly don't want to pay extra for the priviledge of choking it down on property!

Third Section MGM

MGM, ok does anyone else think that MGM is one big store with like three rides that keep people coming? Ok soapbox removed.

My daughter loved this park because of the Playhouse Disney show. What a great production! the characters are great and the hostess of the show was lively. My daughter didn't want to leave the staging area when it was done! Bravo to Disney for this.

Backlot tour was awesome, hadn't done it before, my sister and I were the deck hands for the first segement and that was wicked awesome! I loved seeing the star wars props as well during the ride. I am a huge Star Wars fan.

Rockin Roller Coaster was as great as I remember, love that ride.

Phantasmic was great, I love the addition of Lilo and Stitch. Just wish we didnt have to sit down so early to get a seat.

Brown Derby restaraunt, very unimpressed with this place. The menu was way too fancy for my tastes, we were trying to do the phantasmic meal package, but the menu did not have a single thing on it that ANY of us would have liked. And let me tell you, that is a hard thing to do for my family. If you like gourmet food then this is the place for you I guess, for me and my family, not a good joint.

Hollywood and Vine was a good character breakfast, good food but limited choices, Chef Mickeys was better. Good characters, but again, not enough time at tables. Understandable but frustrating if you want a lot of face time.

Skipped Tower of Terror, just too much of a thrill ride for my family.

The hat was awesome, and the PINS, oh my word how addicting are THOSE things!!! We just got into it this trip and it was like a form of crack cocaine for us! Oh my WORD it was pandemonium there for ahwile. We actually went to the checkout on our last night with over three hundred dollars worth of pins. Needless to say we got out of line and narrowed it down significantly!

One Man's Dream musuem was awesome. What a great man. Don't miss this one. There are artifacts from Disney's offices, as well as cameras, old Mickey toys and at the end is an awesome Disney documentary. Even though I could have done without that slime ball Eisner. Man I wish Disney would pick a diffrent CEO. This guy just gives me the chills a bit, I do not have a reason for it, but just a gut feeling. Oh well, ignore the personal comments, lol.

Great Movie ride needs an update, was great the first time, but not so hot the second or third.

Star tours as well needs an update, I love Star Wars, but this is played out a bit, they need to update it to the new movies I think, something with pod racing maybe?

Beauty and the Beast was great for my daughter, we adults thought it was a bit cheesy. Great for kids if you got them.

Alright, I may tick a few people off here, but I am bringing the soap box back out. This Soap Star weekend at MGM, what a waste of time, space and money. This was the dumbest event ever. I am sitting there on Friday watching the taping of Soap Talk, when this soap star comes on stage, I don't know her name but that is not the funny thing, the funny thing was the fact that in the back row of this show were five 40+ year old women SCREANING LIKE THE BEETLES HAD JUST TAKEN THE STAGE, this was a female soap star, and I kid you not these women were jumping up and down and SCREAMING their bloody heads off. The whole event added needlessly to the crowds during an offseason time. Which of course is the idea so Disney can make money, I know I know. Stunk for me and my crew.

Star and Cars parade was great, loved the narration by the guy in the blue suit. My daughter loved this one as well.

Sidenote: Pet Peeve: People who come and try to squeeze thier way into your spot that you have been sitting in for an hour to see a parade. I actually had one young woman tell my wife and sister off because they were sitting down waiting. This young woman had decided that she was going to try to squeeze into the half inch crack of concrete space between us and the ropes that had been set up for the parade. This again play into my theory that people are going to seize thier Disney moment no matter what the cost or aggravation to anyone else. And of course because we did not move because we COULDN'T move at that point because there was so many people it was all our fault that this woman had her Disney Magic ruined. Sigh, ok soapbox back under the stage.

I consider MGM a tasty morsel between MK and Epcot.

More later

Nice report. I agree, MacDonalds should be left out of the park. If I wanted to eat buttery cardboard, I could do that at home. Besides, Sunny Eclipse's joint is a way better choice for great eats.

Re Stars & Motorcars Parade:

Wow! What is it about this parade that makes people do something so rude? Same thing happened to us this past April when an adult couple squeezed in front of everyone, including little kids, about 10 minutes prior to parade time, then thought this was an okay manuever. Fortunately, a screaming match didn't ensue, but most tall adults (I'm 6'2", my Father in law 6'5") were telling them to at least get behind the shorter people (kids) so that they could see.

So after two or three kids were politely allowed to squeeze in front of them, these two Bozos still stood their ground AND STOOD during the whole parade when everyone else in the front was sitting or at least kneeling. Why? Male Bozo had to videotape that darned parade.

I think you put it best--some people want their Disney Moments and don't care about impeding on anyone elses.

But for a week's vacation, that was our only truly rude tourist moment. Most people we saw and met (including CM's) were polite, up, and fun to be around.

EPCOT

Well, there is not much to say about EPCOT. We do love the place, we schedule EPCOT in the middle as a restful kind of dya, since you dont have to rush around trying to make fastpass or rides.

Figment was MUCH different from what I remeber. LOL. We took our 1 year old on it, remembering that it was a slow boat ride and not scary or anything. The refurb has added complete darkness and loud bangs in some areas of the ride. We werent upset at all, since we brought our daughte on, but I do wish there had been a sign lettingus know that the ride had changed lol.

Canada was a big surprise for us this year. Le Cellier was a GREAT restaraunt. If you have time to go there, and you have the money since it is a bit pricey, do it, well worth what we paid.

We also ate at the Japenese Steak House, that was good as usual, but VERY crowded, and we even had PS for that night.

We watched the fireworks at the Crown and Rose in England, those in my opinion are some of the best seats you can get, as well as uncrowded. It was liking having our own little viewing area. My daughter loved them.

Our pictures were up at leave a legacy and that was REALLY nice. We are thrilled with them and the fact that my daughter will be able to go see them when she is older. I took many pictures of ours and some friends.

Spaceship Earth is still a favorite, even though I am anxious to see what and if Microsoft will refurb it. It is a very nice ride that I always enjoy.

Ice Station Cool is always funny, since we can always trick at least one person into taking the bitter flavor of soda. That is always good for a laugh.

Innoventions and Innovations, disappointed in both exhibits this year. Those need a major update.

Test Tack is overrated in my opinion. Not worth the hour wait in offseason.

Saw the new e- ride building for mission mars, wish it was done so we could have gone it.

Caught the Jamitors show, man those guys are GREAT, my daughter loved them! Catch them if you can.

The living seas was good as usual, for some reason I seem to thinik that there were A LOT more fish in there than I remember, including dolphins. It was really great.

Only bad thing about epcot was transportation. Our last night there, my daughter was DEAD tired, and we immediatley started to make our way back to the hotel, we were tired too, we got to the bus station, and just as we were maybe 50 yards away our bus pulls in. The bay was empty of people totally. So we started to walk a bit faster but not rushing since we had been told that all busses MUST wait at least 10 minutes at each stop. Well, this bus did not do that. We were within striking distance when the bus driver closes up his door and pulls away! I even ran after him and waved at him, and he refused to stop! My daughter was tired, had a really wet diaper, and we were stuck to wait again. The wait for the return bus was 20 minutes instead of ten, AND it was the same driver. When I asked him politely what happened and why he didnt stop for me, he said that he was in a load and go mode, and didnt have to wait for me. This really did not sit well with me, but I did not press him since it would have gotten me no where. I was just disappointed because it really strained our night and our daughter.

Epcot is a nice quiet day for the most part. I still love this park.

Ahh good question, this gentleman did not wear one! Or it was somewhere I could not see, which I assume is probably the case.

It just kind of bummed me out, it being the last night and all.

Animal Kingdom

Well, they have certainly improved this park since the last time I was there.

My one year old simply loved this park, this is a great kids park so I suggest that if you have younger children, you plan on visiting this park at least twice.

The lion King show is STUPENDOUS, simply AWESOME, DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!! Kids love it, adults are amazed by it. I will not spoil it for you, but let me give you a tasty hint, acrobats, smoke, singing, animated puppets that look real and a grand finale!

Did the "It's tough to be a bug" in the tree of life, another great show, there are some moments of complete darkness and loud booms, so if you child gets scared, maybe you should sit this one out. My daughetr actually clapped when the darkness came and the loud booms. This is HIGHLY unusual for her, but I think that because the characters were flick and the other bugs from Bugs life, she thought it was a big cartoon. Don't miss this one either.

Kiliminjaro Safaris. <blink> DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT</blink> miss this ride. What an amazing ride, you get a 25 minute long safari with live animals. During our ride we had a rhino, giraffe and some zebra literally walk right in front of our vehicle, simply AWESOME. The wait for this ride is worth it I guarantee you. DO NOT MISS THIS RIDE!

Dinosaur - Super Scary- DO NOT TAKE SMALL CHILDREN ON, this is NOT a kid ride, and is VERY INTENSE, if you are a thrill seeker, ride this ride, complete darlkness, sensory thrills and a bumpy ride make for an outstanding ride all together. I did see a family bring a small child on, and that kid was screaming bloody murder by the time he was off. do not bring yong children on this ride.

Asia - Water Ride - I love this ride, it is a river rapid raft ride, YOU WILL GET WET!! This is a dinseyfied version of your typical family allrides together raft ride. It is done VERY well, you really feel like you are travelling in a foreign land. Kind of a long wait but worth it if you like this genre of ride. Ride it early so you have time to dry throughout the day.

Best Eating place - flame tree barbecue - This place has the absolute BEST ribs EVER!!!!!!! Get a large order and a TON of napkins. man those thing are so tender the meat just falls off the bone. EAT HERE DON'T MISS IT!!!

The park has a ton to see as far as animals go, it is really cool. Great park, great rides, good stores.

What are Mojo Bones? I love ribs and we'll be heading down to Disney in 2 weeks. Sounds like we'll have to make a trip to Rainforest so I can try them out.

Mojo Bones are the most melt-in-your-mouth AWESOME ribs I have ever had the privilege of putting in my mouth! So flavorful, so tender.....:slurp:

Of course, I have never had the ribs of which RevRay speaks, so they may very well be awesome too! :)

Unfortunetly whoever told you that was not speaking the truth. 90% of our operation is Load & Go. Pretty much the ONLY time we are told to hold is about an hour or so after a park closes, and we're waiting for the stragglers.

Once the bus starts to roll, it cannot stop. For legal and liability reasons, we cannot board or de-board passengers once we have started to pull out of the load zone. I've had guests running alongside and pounding on my bus... however, there is nothing I can do.

Also, keep in mind, the bus driver is probably looking in one of two directions. First, we'll check the left mirror to check for oncoming traffic, and then we'll look straight ahead. There is no reason for us to look to our right mirror, and even if we did, that doesn't mean we see you.

Having been assigned that run many times in the past month, I can tell you it wasn't the same bus that you recieved. It's about a 35 min round trip to AK Lodge... Also, Disney advertises busses as running approx every 20 minutes. 95% of our dispatches are well below that figure, however, for buffer zone sake, we keep it at 20 minutes, not 10.
