REVIEW - STK Orlando at Disney Springs

Don't count on it not taking dining plan for long. Boathouse started out like that as well.
STK will never take the dining plan. STK will never want to be seen as a discounted or part of a meal plan. It's a high end steakhouse that is very selective where it opens and how it markets itself.

And how many people are going to bring their screaming 3 year old to a place that they are going to spend $300 on????

We've had it happen outside of WDW, but the maitre 'd handled the situation smoothly. At WDW where some people "paid a lot of money to be there", I'm not sure it would be handled the same way or as well;)

Hopefully will, since it isn't a Disney restaurant, and they won't be CMs.

When we dined there we were asked if we were on the Disney dining plan and I saw a disney cast member with a band reader at another table. So, it seems to me they do accept the dining plan.
They may have asked to avoid anyone being upset when the bill is presented. We eat at Bluezoo in the Dolphin on every trip. The server always mentions the Disney Dining Plan to make sure we know we can't use it there. (we never get the DDP so it doesn't matter to us but it's always mentioned) Also, I'm pretty sure that The Boathouse was using the band readers for charging to our resort account prior to allowing DDP.

Just called STK Orlando. The girl who answered the phone said they do take the Disney dining plan and she believed it is 2 TS credits.

Well I guess never doesn't always mean never.

It was discussed a lot when The Boathouse opened, but the thing to remember is the credit only gets you entree & dessert. So in places like STK and Boathouse, that means you only get the meat for steak dishes (other dishes may list sides that come on the plate) and sides will have to be paid OOP. This is different to Disney owned and operated steak restaurants where all entrees have a side on the plate.

Does Disney force these places to accept DDP or cost of doing biz on property? I see no upside for STK to allow it.

I believe it is expected for tenants to be part of Disney's programs.

Hope it doesn't impact STK bc the Vegas location is great.

Perhaps this opens the way for a 3-credit meal? Even at a 2-credit buy-in I dont see how it wont effect STK after a while, assuming the DDP people head there to cash in their credits.

Oh I agree... The ddp has had a negative impact.... It's not even debatable and simple economics.

It's only "simple economics" for people who don't understand the behind-the-scenes of how this thing works.

For non-Disney restaurants on the dining plan, Disney compensates the operating participants for the difference between the value of the dining credits paid and the menu price of items ordered. In other words, if a TS dining credit is "worth" $40 and you order a one-credit meal with a menu price of $43 at Rainforest Cafe, Disney makes up the $3 difference. The dining plan has no impact on non-Disney restaurants.

Reading helps.... I said and DDP has had an impact on the quality of Disney food... The quote above does not mention non-Disney restaurants. Also, please don't tell me it hasn't had an impact... It is clear as day.
