Revenge of a new fireworks show for the Magic Kingdom (open brainstorming)

This has been picked up from an old thread here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=611407.

I think it's time to get rid of "Wishes" at the Magic Kingdom and replace it with another fireworks show. The question is, what kind? I would really like to be something original. I don't want just another generic show about "magic".

What I would really like to see is something on a par with Remember Dreams Come True. Only that kind of show (a history/tour of the park) will be the focus of a brand-new nighttime light parade to replace SpectroMagic (or the Electrical Parade, if the case may be). With a concept for a show like that officially taken now, we need to come up with an alternative for the fireworks. So how could we possibly top RDCT? That, I'm having difficulty with.

The only idea I could come up with on my own (and even then I had help with) is this: a tribute to the history of Walt Disney done in fireworks. Unfortunately, it seems to be a bit too long (by fireworks show standards) and places too much emphasis on audio (dialog, music, etc.) and not enough emphasis on fireworks (or any other special effects).

So what could we do?

I have no idea how to take the matter forward with the fireworks show. I want it to top RDCT, but the concept of "dreams" and "magic" just seems too common, too cliche. We need to do something truly wonderful for a show like this, but what?

So what can be done here? I don't want just another show with the theme being "magic" or "dreams" or anything that is so generic.

I'd like to see one that combines fireworks with the memories projection show. That would be incredible.

As for the format of the show, make it pure music. No narration or character voices. You can invoke emotions purely through the music and color schemes.

Wasn't that kind of what Fantasy In the Sky was about?

I've even heard rumors that Hyperion Wharf might be the home of a somewhat toned-down version of World of Color. So I guess that rules that out.

What can be done? I really want to do something here!:(

How about a show that explores some of the great Disney stories, but in a broad sort of sense? Kind of like how Pirates and Princesses (or whatever) does now, but with a few other stories thrown in.

For example:

- a section about adventure, featuring themes from Peter Pan, Aladdin, Up, and the Lion King
- a section about Pirates, with the "cannonball" fireworks being launched from around the hub, the blasts firing off the castle, etc.
- a section about princesses and fairy-tales, with castle projection effects, pyro colors matching the princess in question, Disney princess/love songs
- a segment about friendship, with songs from Toy Story, Lilo & Stitch, etc.
- maybe a sci-fi segment, with themes from Treasure Planet, Wall-E, and 20,000 Leagues
- maybe a villains segment? featuring some of the popular villains songs

I think what ultimately drives a fireworks show is its music and soundtrack; everything else is sort of just choreographed to match. So I guess we should think about how to divide a show into different types of music first, and then go from there.

Maybe turn to Disneyland's new Soundsational parade for inspiration:

And what would the name of the show be? The exploration of Disney stories seems a little ambiguous to me.

Taking a wild guess.
Plus, the 50th sounds like the perfect time to introduce a new fireworks show.

The Original Fantasy in the Sky performed from 1971 until 2003 (32years).
Wishes has performed since 2003 (So 8years so far), Too early to introduce a new Nightly Fireworks show to replace Wishes

Why is it too early to introduce a new fireworks show? Look at the number of firework shows they've had at Disneyland as of late. Now take a look at Fantasy In the Sky. It may have gone by that name for over 30 years, but it has not always gone by the same kinds of songs used in the show, nor has it had quite the same opening and closing scenes.
