Return of the original Tiki Room

I would love to have the Original Tiki Room return. If not, they need to get Wally Boag into the recording studio ASAP to record dialogue as Jose. He's the only original voice actor still alive.

lets get back to basics

Actually, the never abandoned the basics to begin with anyway, despite what you may think.

I wonder what the other UNM fans like Dragonrider1227 would say in regards to these new rumors.

I am so happy that the original Tiki Room is coming back!!!! I've actually never seen the original one live, but I have seen it on the Walt Disney Disneyland Treasure DVD's and it looks better than the newer one that we know of. It's about time they put something back in that was Walt's idea, they should of never changed it, it's a classic, they should of just left it alone. But im happy that its coming back, YEAH!!!!

Marni1971 just said that the original show is not returning to WDW. And, IMO, it shouldn't.

Even though the Tiki Room is a classic, it had to be changed at WDW, due to its attendance being extremely poor and the majority of the guests hating the old show.

Stop falling back on the Walt theoreticals and give the DL vs. WDW comparisons a break already! Just because they have different shows doesn't make either version better or worse--they're both equally great and I just wish that those of you who continue to remain ungrateful will eventually see that one of these days.

EDIT: If they're really going to duplicate TDL's "Stitch presents Aloha e Komo Mai" Tiki show at WDW, I hope that they won't evict our dear friends Jose, Michael, Pierre and Fritz. The fact that UNM retains those 4 characters is one of the reasons why I prefer UNM (and see it as a better homage to the original show) over the Tokyo Tiki Room's previous updated show, "Get the Fever", which ditched them in favor of 4 new bird hosts...and the new TDL show is going to ditch them again, so I hope that they'll retool it a bit for WDW to allow Jose, Michael, Pierre and Fritz to stay.

And according to Leemac at Laughingplace.com, the Stitch Tiki show will not include the "In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room" song, since they couldn't find an appropriate spot in the show in which it could be performed easily while blending in with the updated format. Once again, here's to hoping that the show will get retooled a bit so they can be able to not have to cut that song from the show at WDW.

It will only return if WDI gets the budget to include the attraction's upgrade under the 40th anniversary promotion. As of right now, its still a possibility, but it isn't likely.

The Enchanted Stitch Room will eventually take the place of the Under New Management show.
Why Stitch?:dazzle:

I would rather have the UNM...But I shall not complain...COP is getting some love.:D

Think about it, Stitch would match that show perfectly. The polynesian setting, the talking todempole thingys. They all match his character. It could turn out to be a GREAT show if done right. I hated the idea of Stitch's great escape (even though the animatronic is incredible, I dont care if u like the show or not), but this sounds great to me. It is using a great character (arguable, i guess) to support a great show that could use a HUGE kick in the keister.

If the 40th anniversary is everything Jedi says it is...I might have a heart attack. or cry. i would be THAT excited.

I would also fly to california just to shake john lasseter/bob iger's hands, and then get a huge group hug going. y'all can join me if you want. :D

Am I the only person who never liked stitch.... at all? To me, he's like the jar jar binks of Disney Animation.

But ANY changes to The Tiki Room would be an Improvement. I will not go back in there unless they fix it. It's just way too depressing. Its like if they tried to tie in treasure planet with Pirates of the Caribbean. It's annoying, and out of touch with any generation. I grew up loving Aladdin, and Lion King, But I Just hate the new version. Why didn't they use likable characters? The only part I like is the pre-show with Phil Hartman.

I am always open to change. As much as I like the nostalgia of the original attractions, they can't always be the same. The show must be fresh.

anyways, I Just hope they do something to fix it.

Restoring the original with some plussing would be wonderful. The draw of the original was how cool the effects were, and the charming relaxing music. They need to come up with some awesome effects that will be as dazzling to us as seeing the first AA's. I think new AA's with a lot more animation would be great. They really need to take out anything that could scare children on children directed attractions. That Tiki God was a really bad choice. Its like the Train part on JII. It scares the crap out of little kids, but the majority of the ride is for kids. It just doesn't make sense.

agreed, sounds like were going to go from obnoxious to even more obnoxious with stitch, BUT as ive said before if done right maybe it will be pretty well done and good. Does anyone know of any pictures online of the new Stitch show in Tokyo or what songs it has??
I will still forever call it the tiki room, there is no way Im calling it the stitch room, uggg. But I think hes much better popping up in the middle though than that scary thing thats in there now, polynesia or whatever she is. Yeah she does scare the crap out of little ones. She scares me too lol.

I wonder how hard it would be to have the original show, and a new show in the same location. Like if they scheduled the Original Tiki Room to have 3 showings during the day, or something like that. I think that would be wonderful.

Also, If they had shows at a scheduled time, people would hang around Adventure land before the show so they wouldn't be late, and buy more crap.

If they do add Stitch to the Tiki Room (ugh), then Stitch's Great Escape needs to be removed.

the show in tomorrowland would close and the stitch animatronic would be moved to the tiki room, apparently. thanks for that link.

Hmm not sure about that.

Has there been a time where a attraction has gotten refurbed, only to return to original form some years later? I cant think of one off the top of my head....

The Country Bear Jamboree (Original Show) was replaced in 1986 by (my Favorite) the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown but the Original show returned in 92 for The Magic Kingdom's 20th Anniversary.

So I guess you want a clone off SGE only in Adv. Land?:rolleyes:One ride is enough...

But I agree with your thoughts on the 40th too....Sounds GREAT!!:sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

I think that the whole "Under New Management" thing has run its course, anyway. I mean, it has to seem "new" to make sense (since it references the old one in the lyrics and dialogue). So, it is time to return to a timeless version -- the original, but updated for sound clarity and perhaps AA movement (like they did for Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln at DL).

Nostalgia is catching up with me. I can remember sitting with my grandparents watching that show, and then seeing the Orange Bird after. The orange bird would be hanging out at the sunshine tree terrace, and we would have OJ in a plastic orange. My brother and I would use the oranges for months after the trip. The good old days...

Well, if they do go back to the original show in Florida, be prepared for a comeback of the same constant walk-outs and underattendance that led to the original show's departure (and almost a complete departure of the WDW Tiki Room altogether) from Florida. :D :lookaroun  :hammer:
