For smaller kids they also have a between the legs loop that the belt goes through. They have to be 40" to ride, but also have to measure up to a mark on the seat to ride without the loop thing.

Are the loops at every seat or just at selected ones?

I'm traveling with someone who would feel a lot more comfortable riding if they *could* use the loops, and am curious as to how they are set up.

I think the loop is on each one, but I can't remember. It really is a safe ride. Your friend shouldn't worry.
At DCA it's on every seat. It's a nice gentle motion and you never feel like you're going to get dumped out. The seatbelts are only there to keep you from trying to get up.

Make sure you try to get seated in the front row when you do get to ride. This is the one that ends up at the top of the screen so you don't see people's feet dangling above you.

If you sit on any of the edge seats you can look over your shoulder and get a pretty good look at the mech.

Good times, even if it's not the best thing Disney has ever done.

The seats only have a little motion to them, like pitching back when you are climbing and pitching forward when you are decending
