Restaurant pager distance

Hi all! Long time lurker and adult-only Disney-goer here 😊 Coming up though I have the great experience to look forward to going with my best friend and his kids, 5 and 8 😁 I of course have been doing the planning and so far am out of luck (but will keep trying) for a res for the T-Rex restaurant. My question is if anyone knows how far the pagers work. Would we be able to spend some time in the LEGO store or would that be too far? Now that I think about it, would they move on to the next family if I wasn’t there right away?
Thanks for the insight!

Have you only tried to get a res through MDE? We went there last year on a day trip over to Disney Springs from the St. Pete area, and I was able to get one by calling the restaurant directly. They kind of do their reservations both ways. You might try that if you haven't already.

They won't reach that far. Some of the restaurants now ask for your cell phone # and send you a text.

ETA: We got a text from GF Cafe when our table was ready.

Thanks all! Great suggestions! They’re not on Open Table (booooo), but I’ll call them direct tomorrow 😁🦖
Buy a Landry's card. It's one of the best kept secrets for Rainforest and T-Rex on Disney Property, and works for any Landry's location in the country. It's $25 to join, but they give you a $25 welcome credit, so the cost of the card is free. Not only does it accrue points for $$ off for future visits and gives you birthday credits, but you can walk up without a reservation and be treated like you have one (usually seated within 10-15 minutes).

I originally purchased mine in the early 2000s when it was called the Safari Club. Absolutely worth 10 times its weight in gold in WDW if you plan on eating at Rainforest, T-Rex or Yak and Yeti.

I think my parents had bought theirs around that time as well, as a one time purchase it is such a steal. It's worth it if even for the priority seating, the extra discount is just a bonus. Once I moved to Orlando, it was a no brainer to get my own. It really seems like a highly kept secret no one takes advantage of!

They also have other restaurants all over the country. They own 3 places here in Jacksonville that take the card.

Yeah there's a ton more locations than it seems. I lived in Jax for a couple years but never got over to those Landry locations.
Been to all of them.

Chart House has very good food and an incredibly beautiful building. The thing looks like is was pulled off the sea floor in a Jules Verne novel.

Morton's is also quite good. I prefer it to their main competitor, Ruth's Chris.

Joe's Crab Shack could burn to the ground tomorrow and I would not shed a tear.

Morton's was where I got my Landry's card - for free :)

Long before Landry's group bought it, Morton's was it's own entity. They had a really good VIP card. You got walk up seating (no reservation needed) a complimentary after dinner cordial, and you were eligible for a private wine locker at the restaurant. They were based on availability, but if one was available you could store your prized bottles of wine in it, and they would serve them to you. VIP membership was free, but you had to be invited. In other words you had to be a regular and drop a boat load of money.

I found out that one of the perks of my old company was that you could get a VIP membership just by asking. So I did. It was nice to get the free cordial. I would have never qualified for VIP based on my spending.

When Landry's bought Morton's they automatically made all Morton's VIPs Landry's club members.

Been 3 years since we were last there but I would assume they still have a dino dig site for the kids to spend time in while you are waiting for your table. Pagers should work from there as well.
