Restaurant Opinions Needed

We'll be at WDW and US/IOA Jan 23-Feb 1.:sohappy: :sohappy: So Far we're doing lunch at LTT at MK on Fri 1/24, lunch at Mythos at IOA on Mon 1/27 and the Character Dinner at Chef Mickey's on Wed 1/29. What other restaurants would you all suggest? We'll eat most anything, so all suggestions are welcome. I've eaten at the Yachtsman Steakhouse and enjoyed it, so we may eat there, and Boma sounds really good too, but neither one of those are set in stone.

Cheers:wave:

PS...Wed 1/29 we're going to IOA. It closes at 5 or 6 so we'll be back at WDW by 7 at the latest. How late can I make a PS for Chef Mickeys and do we need to dress up for it?

I'm not sure if you are traveling with children or how much you plan to spend on meals, but my three favorite restaurants at WDW are the California Grill (Contemporary), Citricos (Grand Floridian), and Flying Fish Cafe (Boardwalk).

I also recommend Artist Point (Wilderness Lodge), Yachtsman Steakhouse (Yacht Club), Palio (Swan), and Spoodles (Boardwalk).

And, I've heard good things, but haven't eaten at, Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge), Maya Grill (Coronado Springs), and Wolfgang Puck's (Downtown Disney).

Hope this helps...have a wonderful trip!

If you're going to AK the Rainforest Cafe there is always a good choice for lunch.

Also, Primetime Cafe at MGM is good for lunch and a lot of fun if you are willing to loosen up and interact with your server.

Otherwise, I agree with some of the other recommendations. My top three favorites are CA Grill at Cont., Artist Point at WL and Spoodles at Bdwalk.

Check out the new Reviews section here on WDWMAGIC for more details on some of these.:slurp:

Where to eat

I strongly suggest eating in the Castle(Cinderella's Royal Table) while at the Magic Kingdom. You will need to make a reservation 60 days in advance at 1-407-WDW-DINE to assure seating. The Polynesian hotel offers the Hawaiin style Luau which is also an excellent choice for food and entertainment. While visiting EPCOT, if you want a quick meal, you should try out a restaurant in the "Land" area called Barbecue for outstanding chicken sandwiches. Good luck!

My two favorite restaurants at WDW are probably California Grill and Wolfgang Puck's. Both have amazing food and service and some of the best sushi I've ever had.

If you're looking for meals a little more low-key, we've always enjoyed the Italian food at Tony's Town Square in MK, which should be back to normal by then, and we had a wonderful meal at Mama Melrose's on a rainy evening last week -- flatbread pizzas and soup, yum!

And we haven't had a bas meal yet at any of the countries in Epcot -- we haven't eaten in Norway or Germany, but the sampler platter for two at the Chinese restaurant was one of the most romantic wonderful meals we've had at Disney!

Enjoy! I don't know if you can go wrong no matter where you choose!

Meega, nala kwishta!
I'd highly recommend Artists Point at WL as well. And I'd add Chef de France in World Showcase/France as well.

Jiko is good if you're into new tastes, as well as Boma, both at AKL.

I really haven't eaten at any WDW resturant that I didn't like except the Coral Reef in the Epcot. So pick almost any one and you'll enjoy it! :D

As soemone else said, all of the restaurants at WDW are good. I've never left one feeling unhappy or disappointed.

I second the recommendation for Artist Point. I also like the Brown Derby. Both have great atmosphere.

If you like seafood, the Cape May buffet in the Yacht Club (I think) is good.

I'm very fond of the Brown Derby at the Studios, and the Coral Reef at EPCOT.

Our experiance at the Coral Reef was terriable. I'll agree the atmosphere was wonderfull, we even had a table right up against the glass.

But the food was no better than an averagy Red Lobster to us. And man, Alagater sausage has got to be the nastiest tasting thing in the world. :hurl:

We just didn't think we got our moneys worth, and at spending over $100 for two people, we though it should have been much better.

I will not ever return.

We are going to try Nacoossee's in Oct, and we'd like to try the Flying Fish sometime as well, but if I'm looking for seafood in WDW, I will not ever go to the Coral Reef again. :hurl:

Just my opinion. :D

Yep, I've eaten there a few times. They are good, but a bit loud and crowded at times. But still, much better that Coral Reef, IMHO. :)

Where the heck is Throop PA? :D

I agree the food at Coral Reef isn't the best but to eat and watch the fish is really nice!

I also would reccomend the Flying Fish Restaurant at Boardwalk, and the California Grill at the Contemporary(see if you can get a table with a view of Mk if not there is an observation deck).

Also Rainforest Cafe is so AWESOME! It fits in perfectly with disney because it's themed so well.

All the restaurants are good though! Have fun!

One quick question what restaurant's have a good birthday experience??

thanks!

:slurp: Our last visit we tried Le Cellier in Canada at EPCOT and let me tell you, they had a prime rib in a cabernet reduction sauce that was sooo good that it was worth moving north for! I'm definately going back.

27 days to go. Beach Club and cruising here we come!

 So anyway, I pratically never eat in the full service resturants - I hear they're all wonderful, but I don't eat enough to justify the cost (sigh...) Some of the buffets sound soooo yummy too! I'm sure that wherever you go it'll be fabulous! :)

This is an adults only trip, just me and my buddy Byron.

Be Nice. I work for Red Lobster... :D

Hi again everyone. Thanks for the opinions. Everyone seems to like California Grill and Wolfgang Pucks. I've been looking for an excuse to go Wolfgang's, so we'll probably eat there. Artist's Point also seems to get good reviews from everyone so we'll likely do it as well. WL is my fave resort, so we'll be there at some point to see it. I was hoping someone would say something good about Fulton's, since I LOVE seafood, so Fulton's and/or The Flying Fish will go on the must eat list. Thanks again everyone. ARE WE THERE YET????:D :animwink: :D :sohappy:

Cheers

Romulan Ale? Why Jax, you know that stuff is illegal.

Anyways, my family and I have been to WDW many times and have developed some favorite restaurants. The thing with food at WDW is that I NEVER feel like it's worth the money. So what you do is just say to yourself "It's my vacation, I'm going to overspend on food and not worry about it!". Break out the debit or credit card and don't even look at prices or bills. If you have to pay cash it will be hard to ignore the enormous amounts you're forking out and it will harm your experience. We always eat breakfast and a late lunch, skipping dinner as the prices are always much higher then. If anything we eat a snack for dinner. We went with my grandparents one time and my grandpa is a huge tightwad. He complained about food and food prices incessantly and it was probably the least enjoyable trip we've ever had. (He's got PLENTY of money, BTW) On to the restaurants...

The Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL is almost always a stop for a breakfast and a lunch. Great food, decent prices.

The Land Grille (or whatever they're calling it now) has also always been a wonderful lunch experience for us.

Rainforest Cafe does not have the best food but it is well worth it for the wonderful theming.

Kona Cafe in the Polynesian is a terrific breakfast stop.

Boatwright's in PO:Riverside is also a great breakfast.

The Coral Reef has been a wonderful experience for us. The food we ordered was wonderful and it was very romantic for our honeymoon. Our server noticed and we got two complementary desserts!:slurp: We're probably customers for life.
