Resort tax?

I am leaving Saturday for the parks and had planned on buying my tix at the resort. A friend of mine who went last year said she was getting hers at the Disney Store because they charged her a resort tax last time she bought them at her resort. I don't remember that. Is that true that it's higher if you buy at the resorts vs. the Disney Store?

You have been misinformed. There is no resort tax charged on any type of park tickets, merchandise, or food. County Resort tax is charged on resort accommodations only.

The tax rate on Walt Disney World tickets is 6.5% regardless of where you purchase them, both in state and out.

As JPVonDrake stated, the ticket tax rate is 6.5% (Florida state tax). It doesn't matter if you buy them at the gate, at the resort, online, or from TDS in another state...it's always going to be 6.5%. If you buy gift items at resorts, sales tax is 6.5%. The ONLY difference in tax is the tax for the hotel stay itself. Like all hotels, it charges a different tax rate on it's per night prices. Every resort but the All Stars is at an 11.5% tax rate, whereas the All Stars are at 12% (I believe) because they are actually located in a different county. But as I said, that's only for the actual room stay...not for purchases. I wonder if your friend was confusing the two.
