Hi All,

I had my trip all planned for the FQ, Now I am thinking about doing a few days at the WL or YC,
is this something anyone has done. Its my 40th and really want to try out a Deluxe for a few days. I love the the pool at the YC and would love to spend some time there. The WL looks so peaceful.
Can't afford the entire stay at the Deluxe so was thinking could try for a few days. But wanted to know if this a big pain moving your luggage over and ect...

any suggestions would be greatly appericated!:D

It's a major pain. You must arrive, check in, unpack, and begin your vacation.

Then you have to re-pack it all - the clean and dirty, the wet and dry, all your new purchases. This packing up is a LOT less fun than it was at home. You also have to figure out when you'll do this packing. Will you take a morning off the day you're switching? Will you pack it all up the night before, when you're tired after a long day in the parks? Maybe during the middle of the day the day before? Maybe never really settle in and relax in the first place?

Then you must go stand in line again and check in again. Your new room may not be ready until three or four in the afternoon, leaving you without a place to go if it is hot, cold or raining.

Then you have to pack it all up AGAIN when you leave.

It's a lot of work and a bit time consuming. The vacation becomes more disjointed.

IMO, it just is not worth the hassle. I know some people think its no big deal, but my advice is to pick a hotel and stick with it.

I think it depends on your group, along with how long you plan to stay at both resorts. My sister and I did a split stay at POFQ and Poly last year, and it was pretty easy. No kids though, I think that would make a huge difference. Also, we did 2 nights at Poly. I wish we'd done one more b/c I was just starting to feel at home. That being said, Disney made the luggage transport super-easy, and now I have 2 more split-stays planned. It really is a great way to try out a new resort. Whatever you decide, you'll be in WDW, so have fun :)

we also split stays a lot, mostly for convenience, but also because our goal is to visit every resort on property. we always do the shorter stay first, that way we don't have to unpack and settle in, just live out of the suitcase for 2 or 3 days, and it's not that big a deal to get ready to move. it's a little bit of a pain, but not that bad and we consider it worth it for the other advantages. example- last trip we stayed at Contemporary so we could walk over to MK and no monorail/boat line getting out of the park at closing time. but then moved to fort wilderness cabins to do the other parks so that we could carry sleeping babies/kids only 10 feet from where we parked the car to their beds. so convenience won.
bowler hat girl is right that the actual luggage transfer is easy. call bell services, and they take it all from your room and when you arrive at your next resort, call their bell services and they deliver it to your room. there is a lag time, so keep anything you will need for the next several hours. and it'll cost you tips on both ends. and since we have three kids, and all the attendant juices, milk, yogurt, etc, if you tell bell services, they put that in their frig and it's still fresh (and non-poisonous!!!) when you get it back at the next resort

We've done a split stay twice and it was no problem at all. If you don't mind packing up your stuff mid-trip, then its absolutely worth it in my opinion. We moved from ASMovies to Contemp halfway through our first trip and it was very easy. Just packed the night before, told the front desk we were moving, and then hit the parks. When we were done at the park, we went to the Contemp and they brought our bags up to our room.

We did a split stay and did not like it because of the way we did it. BUT if we stayed the short part of the stay first and didn't unpack completly than that would have helped alot I think. It was a pain for us because we stayed so long at the first place and had quite a lot to pack up and get ready for the move. Then stayed so short of a time at the second place we never really seemed to get settled back in. The transfer from one place to the other was kind of fun for us. The excitement of the new place and all.

The only thing I see that complicates split stays is if you do a package with dining or tickets as for us in the past, we had to book two separate reservations which caused additional costs for Magic Your Way tickets as well as the dining plan... not a giant hassle but a slight pain! We have also had bell services lose some piece of our luggage in the transfer, again - just a small irritant.

I have done it before between Port Orleans Riverside and All Star Movies. Its a little time consuming but it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought and worth it. It was our honeymoon so we wanted to stay at Riverside but couldn't afford it for two weeks so we switched half way through! go for it!

We switch on almost every trip and I do not think its a pain. Your luggage is moved for you. Other than leaving later that day from a park and going to a new resort the process is painless. It's s great way to see and experience different resorts in one stay. The only thing you need to do is be in the room for bell services to pick up you bags and then deliver them once you check into the new resort. We have stayed at as many as three resorts I. One stay and love it.

We are frequent Resort Hoppers. Our trip coming up in 29 days... we will be spending the first weekend at Boardwalk... M-F at Saratoga and the last weekend at Beach Club... WE go a lot.. so it mixes the vacation up a bit. Its not for everyone... But we love it. :)

I am leaning to do the yacht club for the first 2 nights. We are thinking using a small suitcase for those nights and not opening the other suitcase till we get to the other resort. That way shouldn't be too disruptive.

That is a good way to do it. We did a split stay twice and the first time I found myself comparing the 2 resorts and finding the 2nd one not quite as good as the first...plus it was 8 days at the first and 3 days at the 2nd. On the other hand at Thanksgiving we spent 5 days at Poly and the last day over at the Dolphin, just took a small bag with us into the room there at the Dolphin and really enjoyed that 24 hours...

I agree with Luv about the hassle, on the other hand it is a nice way to extend a stay for less money...:)
