Resort Specific Plates/Cups Making a Return?

I saw a picture online of a Disneyland specific paper cup and the article stated that they may be moving back to resort-specific paper goods instead of the generic "Disney Parks" ones that are currently used.

I know this is a small detail, but it's one of the things that used to define Disney and make it different. Any truth to this?

I think Disneyland are, but that doesn't mean WDW will. In general DL has never liked the generic cups/plates and as they use resuable plastic baskets with wax paper they don't actually use much of the same items as WDW anyway.

I wonder if this has anything to do with SDL having it's own branded cups and plates? - maybe some execs were reminded Disney used to do this in their themeparks. Disneyland Paris has its own branded cups - surely the more resorts that do this - the less cost effective it is for WDW to use the generic ones

It probably wouldn't be cost effective for Paris, Shanghai, California and WDW to use the same anyway due to the costs of worldwide shipping. Sharing costs between both US coasts seems sensible, but not to Paris as well.

I think McDonalds use the same cups in the UK and Europe. But using the same in the UK and the USA wouldn't make sense as the costs across the ocean would outweigh the savings.

We actually routinely got non DisneyParks branded paper goods while in the parks last week. Specifically the oval "plates" commonly used to server things like the breakfast bounty platters. We always got plain old Dixie ones for those. And once we got two cups of ice water and received one Disney Parks cup and one Halloween Coke/Mickey Head cup, both from the same location.

I miss the day when things were branded WDW. Some of my old plushes still have the WDW tag on them. It made it a little more special that way.
We miss those too and back in the day........... each park had it's own specific merchandise. Not like now where you find the same items in all the parks and the resorts too. My husband always bought a collared, knit shirt from each resort and he wears them now when we go back to that specific one and always got lots of comments on them from CMs because they do not make shirts like that anymore.

Also, the refillable mugs. We have ones from each All Star Resort, Grand Floridian, Caribbean Beach, etc. They were themed to where you were staying. We still have them as memories from past trips.

The last time I stayed at the Yacht Club the trash cans had what I can only describe as trash can coasters in them that were themed to the yacht club. It was so unbelievably random, but yet so Disney.

Assuming you mean golf/polo shirts, they actually have brought some back recently. I just bought one from AKL last week, and am pretty sure I saw one through the window at the Boardwalk gift shop as well.
