I've also heard that Coke tastes different in Mexico and Canada because it is made with sugar rather than corn syrup.

That could be. I did not care for the taste at all but I am sure that our Coke tastes funny to someone from Mexico.

First of all, the Orlando area water is very hard (high mineral content). I like the taste of Orlando water, however, it is not good for bathing. Soap and shampoo do not clean as well with hard water and you can not get a clean and complete rinse with hard water (unless you use a water softener). I have lived in many parts of Florida and have used water softener units in most of those areas. We have very soft water where I currently live.

The soap and shampoo used at Disney is made by Hunter Amenities, Inc. They are an international firm that specializes in making amenities for the hospitality industry. The soap is not made by Ivory nor is the shampoo made by Jhirmack.

We always bring home the unused bottles of shampoo and bars of soap from WDW. We had quite a few from our last visit. After Hurricane Katrina, a local organization was collecting goods to send to the Gulf coast. We packaged up all of the shampoo and soap, along with some other items and donated them. We hoped that some kids...... or maybe even some kids at heart like us..... would really enjoy them.

This place just wouldn't be the same without you.

I would rather be a pompous know it all than a pompous not know it all. :)

Knowledge is power....

My mother did the same thing. In fact, I keep going into the bathroom and find more and more little bottles of the stuff so to this day i'm still not sure exactly how much she took.

My wife brings them back as souvioners for people we don't want to spend money on but I usually convince her to keep some for our Disney themed bathroom. People look at me strange when I throw a fit "you used my DISPLAY soap?!!" Actually I think my friends are getting used to my weirdness. They bring their kids over and tell them "don't touch any of the Disney stuff or uncle Frank will get all weird AGAIN" ;)

I do have certain Disney things for kids, but I TRIP if they touch any of the expensive or nostalgia stuff. Oh and the soap.

Note:

Grand Floridian has different stuff than all of the other resorts (atleast all of the one's i've been to) - what sort of stuff do they use?

I recall they give you a nice box with q-tips and cotton balls in them and the packaging is decorated like the colors of the hotel.

As I have been packing for my move, I have found over 20 little boxes of soups and shampoos.

I have a huge zippy bag full of soaps, shampoos, lotions (squeeze bottle and jar types) and the like. I even have a travel sewing kit from the WL (that looks like a big matchbook) that I keep in my travel case. :D

They use to also pack the toilet paper. It had a tissue paper with bubbles on it and then paper sleeve on top had Mickey on it. We took home the wrapping and put in on a roll and put it on the back of our toilet and someone opened it.

Super bummed me out as they don't wrap them like that anymore.

Do you know if Disney softens the water used for the showers/sinks at the resorts? The reason I ask is because here at home, we have fairly soft water, and my hair is always a dried out mess. Soap makes big suds and rinses clean, but leaves my hair dry. At Disney however, while the soap hardly suds and is terrible to rinse off, the water seems to leave my hair PERFECT, smooth and shiney. I'm guessing it's the high mineral content... but then, it might not be if Disney softens.
