Resort shampoo

I really love the shampoo that comes in the little Mickey bottles at the Epcot (and probably most of the deluxe) resorts. Any chance we can persuade the Mouse to start selling the shampoo? I can't find anything else in the stores that makes my hair look as good. (And no, don't judge by my avatar. That's gel and pixie dust from the Main Street Barbershop!!!) :lol: We save as many bottles as we can, and try to make it last as long as possible, but I would sure pay to get a nice big bottle that would last a while.

Just so you know they give you that same shampoo at all Disney resorts not just Epcot or deluxe. The moderates and even Pop Century have the mickey shampoo you speak of.

I was told that the shampoo at the resorts is a Ghirmack product that has been repackaged for Disney use. This should make it easier to find for you. Good luck!!!

Don't feel so bad...my boyfriend does the same thing. We take home all sorts of goodies from the resorts when we visit - from facial soap to shampoo like you do. He tries real hard to make it last until our next trip, but once the Mickey face washes off the bar of soap it's time to go back I guess! Just what I need, another reason to go back!

I am sure it is just repackaged shampoo with a Disney label. The soap is definitely Ivory soap, you can smell it.

Jhirmack is a decent brand and can be bought easily in any Pharmacy or WalMart & Target. I'll have to buy a bottle and see if its the same.

unusual lol god dont ever drink that stuff.. my family freezes like 40 water bottles and packs them in a cooler before we leave

I remember my MIL loves Dunkin Donuts coffee so she bought some, but it didn't taste the same. They told her it was because they use Culligan water softeners. When she made it with the treated water the taste was right on.

So even if you buy the shampoo, if you have hard or extra soft water it may not be the same.

When we went to Mexico cans of Coke did not taste like cans of Coke here in the US. Same formula different water.

I did a search on google about who makes the mickey shampoo in the resorts and i got back that most places say it is a ghirmack shampoo (i think thats how it was spelled) i also save it from the resorts

It also really depends on your hair type. I always bring shampoo with me because Disney doesn't have seperate bottles of conditioner. My hair is the type that is naturally soft curls, so it tangles easily. The shampoo makes my hair dry and really tangled.

So yes, water type and hair type both matter

Sorry, but it is not Ivory soap. I use Ivory every day and Disney soap does not smell the same. Also, Disney soap does not float like Ivory does (I've tried)

What's so unusual about Orlando water? It's normal to me, as well as for much of N Florida and S Georgia. (Yeah I know, I grew up with the higher sulphur/mineral contents of the water of this area, but it still tastes better than bottled water)

First of all, the Orlando area water is very hard (high mineral content). I like the taste of Orlando water, however, it is not good for bathing. Soap and shampoo do not clean as well with hard water and you can not get a clean and complete rinse with hard water (unless you use a water softener). I have lived in many parts of Florida and have used water softener units in most of those areas. We have very soft water where I currently live.

The soap and shampoo used at Disney is made by Hunter Amenities, Inc. They are an international firm that specializes in making amenities for the hospitality industry. The soap is not made by Ivory nor is the shampoo made by Jhirmack.

I've also heard that Coke tastes different in Mexico and Canada because it is made with sugar rather than corn syrup.

I am surprised, I always thought it smelled just like Ivory though I don't normally use Ivory.
