we are planning a trip in august. we have stayed at all star sports and would like to stay somewhere different.. which resort is best for a family of 5 ( my kids are 5, 4 & 1) pop century, boardwalk inn, or contemporary. we like the deluxe resorts for location, but want the kids to have fun..

Based on the ages of your kids, I'm guessing that you will be spending a lot of time at the MK. With that in mind I would vote for the Contemporary. You will be able to walk in and out of the MK, avoiding the crush of people at the monorails in the evenings. You will also be able to go back for naps easily.

Chef Mickey's is right there, there's an arcade and it's pretty cool to have the monorail inside the hotel. You can take the monorail to Epcot (change at the TTC).

Boardwalk is great if you think you'll be at Epcot and HS a lot. They have a fun pool and the Boardwalk itself is fun. You can walk or boat to either of these 2 parks.

I think the kids will have fun wherever you stay because all of the hotels are geared with kids in mind. If staying at a Deluxe is within your budget go for it, you won't be disappointed.

we just spent a week at fort wilderness cabins. i've never gone anything but deluxe, and was a bit nervous, but with three adults, and 3 kids (8,6,2).....no place really fit us all without costing a fortune.
guess what, had a WONDERFUL time in the cabins. sooooo much room, such a cool atmosphere, quick and easy breakfast in the cabin without losing time in the morning (full kitchen), cleaning people actually do all the usual plus run your dishwasher for you, lots of cool stuff to see and do at fort wilderness itself, even made a wood fire in the grill and toasted marshmallows. be sure to drive around through some of the rv sites, they decorate like you can't believe. i can't say enough great things about this place. i'd do it again in a heartbeat, especially with kids, they loved it!

I would vote for the boardwalk. I've never stayed there myself but it feels like a place where you can just relax and your kids can enjoy the resorts and, of course, the Boardwalk itself.

The fact you are within walking distance to both Epcot and the Studios would be a big factor for me.

My vote goes to the Boardwalk in and here is why:

1) Being near two parks helps when you have children in toe
2) I think you kids will like the Coney Island themed pool
3) There is so much entertainment and things to do with young ones and a lot of dinning options.

Boardwalk is my home resort and I love it so do my teens. I think if I had children 5,4 & 1 I would love to stay at Poly, more relaxed than Contemporary great pool (less conventions). My second choice would be a Ft. Wilderness cabin. Nice boat ride to MK, tons of stuff for kids to do.

I love the BoardWalk. But don't think it's that great for your circumstance. Yes, you are close to walk to two parks....but the walking will tucker the kids out and entering in the back near World Showcase does not give you the Epcot Rides close by, remember. I picture you carrying your kids around a lot on the walks back and forth. The water taxis move real slow, too.

It wasn't on your list, but I'd vote for Wild Lodge. Kids love it there and its real easy to get to MK by boat. The theme is very cool for young kids.

Crush Dude!

Back from WDW!Counting down to DLP in November!
Stayed at pop century and loved it but, if money is no object then definately a monorail resort, and if i had to choose one id go with the Poly, its my dream resort and i hope to stay there next year for the 40th :sohappy:

Or else the wilderness lodge as it looks amazing

When are you going? If you are going during the hot summer months, then I'd vote for Boardwalk in a heartbeat. Simply because you are close to two of the parks which will make taking a mid day swim or break easy. we stayed at Boardwalk last summer and loved it. You do enter Epcot from the 'back' and on early entry days that was a real disadvantage...at least on the days we went, they kept us 'back' farther which meant the masses had already arrived at Soarin'. But otherwise we loved it.

My vote goes for a tower room in the Contemporary. You can't beat the monorail access to both MK and Epcot, and in my experience, all kids care about a pool is that is has water in it. The rooms are spacious - the only problem you might have with small children is the sinks in the bathroom - they're a little high and the water doesn't drain very well so the toothpaste globs up.

You've got Chef Mickey's, and we even liked the counter service restaurant. You walk out of your room, 5 minutes later you're eating a bowl of cereal, then on to the monorail. And coming back to the room for a rest or to swim is just as easy.
