We will be staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort in September. :sohappy: I had once heard that we could visit other resort pools, even the Deluxe resort pools, but NOT the beach resort due to overcrowding since it was the most popular pool to visit, so they now restrict only to resort guests and require wristbands. Is this true, partially true, or false? Grateful for any advice here. Thanks!

Only DVC members have pool hopping rights, and even they have restrictions.

Otherwise, pools are meant for the guests of that resort.

The beach/yacht club pool does use a wristband system. Pool hopping is frowned upon as pools are meant for resort guests only.

Back in the early 90's, if you were a resort guest you were allowed to use any resort pool, but that policy is no longer in effect.

Since this thread is undoubtedly going the way of all the pool-hopping threads, I'll add that the original reusable mugs back then were also supposed to be for unlimited visits.

Let the flames begin!

True. And, just like the mugs, most resorts have no way of knowing whether you are a guest at that particular resort or another. I have never done it, and probably never will as I hate lugging tons of stuff, especially wet clothing around with me. I fixed this problem by staying at the CBR to have that awesome pool.

Thank you all!

Captain Jack- that's why we chose to stay at the CBR as well. My kids LOVE their pool and it saves us from having to consider spending extra money and time at the water parks. They are perfectly content to enjoy the CBR pool. The reason I asked, though was because we were considering possibly staying at another resort and wondered if it would be worth it to even drive over to another resort to use another pool when we have such a great one already at our fingertips. I have heard that The Wilderness Lodge and The Animal Kingdom Lodge have great pools and people that have stayed there have said it's worth spending the extra money. Anyway! Got my answer. Thank you all!

Apparently they do...while at both the Poly & WL I have seen/had CM's ask to see room keys. One family (parents & multiple kids) were asked for the keys, showed them and were told they were not staying at the hotel and would have to leave and use the pool at their hotel; the CM escorted them out.

Yup, while we were staying at the Poly last August they were checking room keys and handing out wristbands.

Question answered. Anyone interested in more discussion on the topic can do a quick search on pool hopping and have enough reading material to keep him/her busy for a few hours. ;)
