I was recently told that you could pool hop from one resort to another if staying on sit at any of the Disney Resorts. Is this true? For example, I am staying at the Port New Orleans but want to go to the pool and swim at Boardwalk. is this allowed?

Pool hopping is not allowed. Some resort amenities are for the use of that resort's paying guests only. Actually, it is allowed in certain circumstances. Port Orleans guests can use the pools at both French Quarter and Riverside. All Star guests can use any of the All Star pools. I think DVC members can pool hop, not sure if that has changed.

Very Funny

It's not about the $, nor the mug. The Boardwalk does not have any rooms available for the dates that I can go and my daughter prefers the pool at Boardwalk.

Understand, I am not trying to be mean, I am just forward.

A) What is so special about the Boardwalk pool?

B) Don't you find it a little bit of a hassle to go all the way to the Boardwalk just to swim?

C) You can not always get what you prefer if it is not available to you.

Hey djperry. Welcome to the forums.

bsandersjr didn't mean anything rude by his comment. It's just that the topic of pool hopping and resort mugs have been known to cause a civil war amongst people here and have tended to cause huge problems. That's all.

To answer the question, no, pool hopping is not allowed. Except in the case someone else mentioned of both Port Orleans being available to guests at each, etc.

But the only people allowed, per Disney rules, to swim at the Boardwalk resort, are guests staying at the Boardwalk resort.

Where are you staying, out of curiousity. Perhaps your daughter will like the pool at your resort too?

Nope, I did not mean anything rude. I was just being forward.

And the mug comment was a joke.

By the way, welcome to the forums:wave:

In the past, during a stay at the polynesian. We have had to show our room keys to use the pool. It was during a peak time of the year and the crowd at the pool was thick. It was inconvenient at the time. Though I would imagine that it was the only way to insure that the resorts paying guests were able to use the resory amenities. It makes sense. I think most people would get upset if they were paying for the Yacht and Beach club pool, and there was no place to sit because other resorts guests were there.

If you want to poolhop.. go for it.. nobody is going to bother you. If they ask you for a roomkey which I doubt that will happen.. then you just say you forgot it and head back.. at least you tried. I dont poolhop but I hung out in the pool areas at most of the resorts and nobody even looked at me let alone ask me for a key. But I was there during dead times of the year.

I dont think its allowed, but i would try it anyway. I have done it numerous times before, and always do it at the contemporary. I dont really see the problem, especially if you go on a day and an hour that isnt peak. All Disney Pools are great, but it is fun to see other ones too!

Good luck, and Welcome to the Forums!

It's not allowed...so you are going to encourage someone to break the rules just because you think they'll get away with it?

I hope you don't have kids...because you're setting a great example.

As for DVC members...pool hopping is permitted but with restrictions....from DVC -

You and any Guests staying with you at Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, Disney's Beach Club Villas or Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are permitted to use other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World

If the pool you are visiting reaches capacity, you may be asked to leave in order to accommodate Guests of that Resort hotel. Please check with a Host/Hostess at the Front Desk of the Resort hotel you wish to visit to find out about pool-access availability. You must present your current "Key to the World" card with your Disney Vacation Club "Member" designation on it to use other Resort hotel pools. Pool hopping is not available at Uzima Pool at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts or at the leisure pools of these two Resort hotels. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Resort hotel pools may become unavailable from time to time because of capacity limitations. Due to expected high occupancy, Disney Vacation Club Members may not "pool hop" during the following dates*:
Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the Resort hotel at which you're staying) if they are not at capacity.
  • November 21 - 27, 2005
  • December 17, 2005 - January 2, 2006
  • February 19 - 25, 2006
  • April 8 - 16, 2006
  • May 26 - 29, 2006
  • July 1 - 8, 2006
  • September 1 - 4, 2006
  • November 20 - 26, 2006
  • December 17, 2006 - January 2, 2007
*Other restricted dates may be added based on projected pool capacity.

I did ask the reservations dept last week if folks who stay at POFQ could use the pools at POR (I had read several places that said these two resorts 'combined') and they said yes, guests could use both facilities and that they were basically the same Resort.

Now I don't know about the Boardwalk or other pools because I did not ask.

Well I can tell you that they will bother you...I have seen people escorted out of the resort when they were unable to produce a room key (for that resort) both at the WL & the Poly... try telling a little kid why he had to get out of the pool and be walked out by one of the lifeguards.

Pool hopping, though once allowed, is no longer. Sorry.

Pool hopping - v

1. To move with light bounding skips or leaps while in a swimming pool.
2. To jump on one foot while in a swimming pool.
3. A light springy jump or leap, especially on one foot, while in a swimming pool.
4.

Sounds okay to me. Just be careful that you don't fall on someone.
