Resort hopping?

I have booked two weeks at the all-star movies in october. I would like to experience some other hotels while I am there. Is it possible to request a move to another hotel for a couple of nights during my stay? Would I get a reasonable rate to upgrade to wilderness lodge for my last two nights? Has anybody done this?

we have resort hopped on one other trip. It was due to the rooms we wanted at the resort we wanted weren't available the whole time. Disney was quite accomodating.....they moved our luggage...it was in our new rooms when we got back from the parks...we checked out of one early in the am...went to the parks and went to the new resort after the parks and everything was in our rooms...no problems.. I dont know what kind of "deal" you will get but if you really want to try another resort this might be the option for you....I mean two days at a higher price isn't so bad as say 10 days!

I don't know what kind of "deal" you would get. I imagine whatever discounts are out for that time period (if any). You will have to make 2 separate reservations, also. I recommend checking www.mousesavers.com periodically to look for discount codes.:)

If you stay at another resort it is the same as staying at that resort if you hadn't stayed at another. You have to make two seperate reservations, and give two seperate deposits. The only deals you can get are the ones offered to everyone.

The only thing they do extra for you is move your luggage between resorts.

I think he's asking about going to the AS desk near the end of his stay, and asking if he can transfer to WL,as an upgrade to his existing reservation. If WL isn't full, and they really have a lot of rooms to fill, he might get a "deal"; it's just as likely that it will already be completely booked. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained! It can't hurt to ask! ;)

I've never tried this from within a resort, but I have called a favorite resort front desk(NOT WDW Reservations) in the morning and asked for the best rate I could get if I arrived later in the day...I've gotten some good deals that way!

I still doubt they will give you a deal because they really don't have control over that. Room upgrades is one thing, but resort transfering is another.

I have done this and had success. We were at Coronado for 5 days and called the front desk on day #5 of the Yacht Club to see about transferring over there for 2-3 days. We also negotiated a great deal right there on the spot with the agent. Maybe we were lucky at the time but the agent was more than willing to help out.

Thanks for the input everybody but I'm still a bit confused as there seem to be differing opinions and stories. Maybe I will just wait til I get there and try my luck.
