Resort Help?

Hi all. I have been going to Disney every year. We have always stayed at the Grand Floridian because we took advantage of the great Annual Passholder discounts. This year I was unable to get a good discount at the Floridian for August. The Yacht and Beach clubs are jut having an amazing deal on the rooms for the Annual passholder. I chose the Yacht Club but I did have a room at the Polynesian that I cancelled. I am nervous because we have never stayed at the Epcot resorts before. I have 3 kids. Did I make a mistake picking the Yacht Club?

We just took advantage of that discount and stayed at the Beach Club. I think that with children and the heat you will be happy to be so close to MGM and Epcot. It is so nice to be right there and we did not find it to be a production to go back to the hotel during the day. Also, the pool is absolutely fabulous. There are some great restaurants right around there. I think you made a great choice.:)

Having stayed at the Beach Club, I think you made an excellent choice. The Yacht and Beach pool is absolutely amazing, and the slide is great. Also, the walk to Epcot's International Gateway is no more than 5 - 10 minutes, and thats if you are as far away from it as possible. If you want, its also possible to walk to MGM, but thats a bit further. Also, the Boardwalk has some good places to eat and has different entertainment at night. Having visited the GF but never stayed in it, I honestly feel that the Epcot Resort area is more child friendly. As long as you keep and open mind and don't expect it to be exactly like the GF, I think you will be happy there.

We have stayed at the Beach Club a few times and love it there. The convenience of being able to access EPCOT's back entrance alone is worth it. The grounds are beautiful and the pool is one of the best on the property. Have stayed at the GF as well and its hard to compare. They're both excellent, just different.

Also, one of my favorite "walks" is to take the sidewalk to MGM instead of taking the boat. It's quiet and the view of the Boardwalk, Dolphin and Swan is incredible - a great place for a moment or two of peace and quiet.

We prefer the Epcot resorts over every other area, and over the years have stayed at all of them. I have boys, so they much prefer the nautical decor over the Beach CLub (they think the color scheme is too girly). But they share many of the same amenities, so either is great. The swimming area is the best of any of the resorts. Years ago, guests at other resorts actually came to swim there, but now it is guests only.

The restaurants are great, too. Beach Club has Cape May Cafe, which has a great character breakfast and a delicious seafood dinner buffet. For something more upscale, there is the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club. And be sure to stop by for some ice cream at Beaches and Cream.

Getting to Epcot from the Yacht Club takes a few more minutes than from the Beach Club, but you will also be closer to the walking path to the Studios. It's a good stretch to the Studios, but we often find ourselves on that path in the evening rather than waiting for the next boat after the park has closed.

I was just about to ask how old are your kids. Well I think you have made a great choice. As others have said the pools are great and worth the trip alone for most kids. Obviously they are the post popular pools as the fact they had to stop the other resort guest from using them.

And the location and other activites around the boardwalk are all fun for the family.

Enjoy.
