Resort Expansion

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there,

I just wanted to let you know, that at the AGM last Thursday a huge modell of the resort was shown depicting the planned expansion for 2008 to 2010.

Unfortunately they did not show any plans for the expansion of the two exisiting theme park or even a third theme park. Instead the model showed only the expansion of Val d'Europe, the non-Disney-hotels and similar stuff.

I'm sorry? Expansion? I thought that Disneyland Paris is in deep financial trouble right now. What are they going to use to expand the park? Did I miss something?

Toilets of Terror & Park Expansion

I'll try to clarify things a bit:

Toilets of Terror: in 2002 construction work started in once corner of the area earmarked for the ToT at WDS ... and fans got really excited. As it turned out all they were building was additional restrooms which soon got nicknamed "ToT" or "Toilets of Terror" by the fans, especially as they are even in the same themeing as a possible ToT according to the original plans at WDS would be. Financing of the expansion as seen in the modell: all the expansion showcased in the modell is guided / organized / planned by the EuroDisney group but it is not financed by them. As the projects seen in the modell are housing, offices, non-Disney hotels etc. they don't need to be financed by the EuroDisney group but by outside investors who lease the property from the group. That way the group actually makes money with these expansions.


No expansions for the parks / no third park: the model didn't show anything of this, correct, but this does NOT mean no park expansion no third park is planned (in fact a third park needs to be built if they don't want to loose some of the property due to the contract with the French government. But: this model was supposed to show only certain kind of expansion plans - excluding the theme parks.
