Would anyone recommend some of the resort dining such as Ohana/Boma as a solo guest? I know they are family styled buffets and the thought of dining there solo seems daunting, in the past i've always gone with family but thats no longer an option and friends don't wish to spend that much on food.. So leaves me option, dine solo there or eat elsewhere?

Boma isn't family style - it's a regular buffet - you need to go to the different food locations and get your own food.

Ohana is family style where they bring you plates of food to share with those at your table, you'd get the table to yourself.

I wouldn't hesitate to eat at either as a solo guest.

Reserve what youll like. I've done the Solo type trip before and dining solo is fine. Dont avoid dining anywhere because youre feeling like you wont enjoy it. Yes at first it will feel strange because youre used to dining in a family group but you will come to enjoy the experience. I'd bring something along like a book or magazine, I-pod to occupy my time alone at the table before the meals came. Some places I found the servers gave me more attention because I was alone.

The only thing I would worry about eating at Boma as a solo would be going up to the buffet and leaving things on the table (camera, phone etc), I don't like going up to a buffet line and leabving belongings unattended even when there is two of us, so we take it in turns. Of course if I only have wallet & phone on me then I just keep them in pockets and carry on!
