Resort Christmas Decorations

Greetings folks,

Long time lurker, few time poster. I have a question for you experienced travelers? Which resort has better Christmas decorations? Poly or Wilderness Lodge?

I am taking my long time girlfriend for her college graduation and goodbye present before she moves to DC for an internship at the Smithsonian:(:D and was wondering which will be more impressive? I'm even considering Art of Animation just because of the novelty.

We've stay WL--just not during Christmas and have never been to a Monorail resort. Any thoughts, input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

My favorites are and why:

BCR - You have to see the carousel made of gingerbread and chocolate
BWR - The gazebo in the lobby is amazing plus the tress in the courtyard a very pretty
CSR - El Centro (the main building) is a must see, especially where you check in
Dolphin - You must see the tree in the main lobby your jaw will drop to the floor
GFR - The Gingerbread house is a Disney World tradition that you have to experience
POFQ - Very colorful, festive decorations with a splash of Mardi Gras
WL - Most classic "American" christmas tree and displays

The Wilderness Lodge feels a little Christmas-y to me just by being there. During the holidays, when they put up that big tree and add all of the holiday flourishes all over the place, it looks like a freaking winter wonderland.

I've never seen the Polynesian decorated for Christmas, so I can't speak to its awesomeness, but for my money, I'd feel far more in the spirit of the season in the lodge styling of the Wilderness Lodge than in the tropical decor of the Polynesian... With all apologies to Don Ho.

Know what I mean?

The Poly has a beautiful tree and all of their wreaths have orchids. That being said, I love the way the WL looks. Their giant tree with the awesome teepee ornaments are amazing.

WL, GF and AKL are my tops for holiday decor.

I found these pics on Suite Disney of Poly Christmas decorations...
http://www.suitedisney.com/wdwphotos/deluxe/poly_christmas_decorations.htm

Those are old pictures. We were at the Poly last Christmas and also in 2010 and there were no gingerbread displays and MINIMAL decorations. Least decorated of all the resorts we visited. If you want full Christmas immersion, WL is the way to go (and the GF if you can afford it.)

AoA is not what I'd consider impressive. At all. It's cute enough, I guess, but I'd rather stay somewhere else and go look at AoA's cuteness one afternoon. I wouldn't want to stay there. It's loud, busy and a little nerve-jangling, like all the Value hotels are.

WL and GF are both nice. GF has much bigger rooms. I think WL's lobby looks better at Christmas...it's just more traditionally warm and Christmassy, IMO. But GF looks nice, too. I suppose some people would consider GF more impressive...especially people who are impressed with hotel lobbies, lol.

On the whole, like GF more. At Christmastime, I prefer WL. I can't say which your GF would prefer.

Good luck.

My personal favorites are
1. Grand Floridian it's the most decorated of all the resorts and is just beautiful
2. Yacht/Beach Club traditional Christmas decor
3. Boardwalk Inn. The Christmas carousel and huge garlands in the lobby are awesome.

Wilderness Lodge does a good job to with its Christmas decor it's just not on my list as I don't go for that rustic feel
