Resort choices?

So on my next trip to Disney (dec2008) I would like to stay at AKL, but I know that there will be construction going on for the new villas. Would anyone recommend still making a reservation there or opting for my other choices the Contemporary or The Polynesian. I also know that the contemporary has had some previous renovations...does anyone have any comments on those renovations as well. Thanks for the help!

All are good choices and I don’t know that I would worry much about any of the construction that much. With that said the Polynesian just finished up completely redoing most of the resort including all the rooms so maybe you might want to see what you think if that resort. The Polynesian is my favorite with the AKL being second but having just visited this last December I might suggest the Contemporary since we had some very cold days and enjoying the grounds at the Polynesian or the AKL are not the same to me when it is that cold out. I don’t know that I will go in December again because I like to enjoy the beach and the grounds so the warmer nights are more to my liking. You don’t have to go outside when staying at the Contemporary or maybe even consider the Wilderness Lodge.

Disney has taken hiding construction to an art form so I would not change my reservations just because of that. If you still wish to change you really can't go wrong with any of the deluxe resorts.

This is going to be new construction that won't effect the Lodge.
You may see a fence or something.

But Animal Kingdom Lodge is my absolute favorite.

Don't worry about the construction at the AKL, I prefer it over the Contemporary but I don't know about the Poly but I will On Jan 4th when I will be staying at the Poly for the first time.:wave:

If anybody can say where the construction is going to be on the grounds, you can always ask for a room as far away from it as possible. While I'm not at all sure, I think, if you're outside facing the entrance of the Lodge, the construction will be on the left, affecting some of the savannah rooms, followed by a new wing. You can always ask for a pool view over on the right. Not as nice as a savannah room, but a little cheaper, and you'll still be able to walk the grounds and enjoy the animals.
