Reservations question

I am making my aunnal trip to the world this coming July (July 5 - 11). This past Saturday was the 180 day mark. So yesterday I tried to make my reservations online. I could only make the reservations upto 180 days in advance. It wouldnt let me make rservations for my entire trip even though I am staying at a Disney resort and I have my vacation information updated online. So, I just had to call to make the rest of the reservations. No big deal I thought. So when I called I was able to make the reservations for the rest of my trip. BUT I was not able to make a reservation at Cape May for the charachter breakfast or for the Illuminations package at Mama Melrose's (just a regular reservation at Mama Melrose's). They lady told me that the tables have not been released yet. But I thought I could make any dining reservations for my entire stay 180 days before my check - in day. Why can I not make these two reservations? The person I spoke to on the phone didnt really have any idea why the computer was not allowing her to make these reservations for me. .

Did you enter your resort reservation # when you tried to make the reservations? If so, I have no idea why it wouldn't let you do this. If not, that's your answer.

I thought that since I am staying at a Disney hotel I could make the reservations for my entire stay 180 days before my arival date. Was this changed?

They let me make some of my reservations on the phone more than 180 days out. Just not the two I mentioned in my original post.

What is this?? What does it include??

As far as reservations, it doesnt make sense you can make ADR's for first 10 days max of a trip, then the next day for day 11 and so on

If you're within your 180+10 window to book and it shows no availability for a particular restaurant, there are a number of possible reasons:
  • The restaurant is blocked off for a special event on a specific day/period and until attendance is confirmed they can't book individuals.
  • The restaurant is scheduled for a refurb/renovation that hasn't be publicly announced or the dates confirmed.
  • Other guests with earlier arrivals and long stays already booked it solid [a less likely, but possible scenario]

You can still make reservations up to 10 days past your arrival date if you are staying at a Disney resort. The problem is their online reservations is buggy as hell when dealing with it. I do not even bother with online ADRs anymore unless I am inside of 180 days.

I think the OP is referring to the Fantasmic dining package.

To add to that list special event dining such as the Fantasmic package does not always release 180 days out. If the schedule is not finalized they won't release the package.

I meant to say Fantasmic not Illuminations! Haha! Anyway, you get reserved seating for the FANTASMIC show so you dont have to get there as early to get a seat. Sorry for the confusion!

I called up yesterday morning and made my ADR'S as yesterday was our 180 day mark for July 9th! WOW, I had a hard time getting reservations... all for a party of 2

9th: OHANA 8:20 PM - no problem getting this one
10th - CALIFORNIA GRILL - 7:20PM. We wanted 8:30 to stretch a meal out for the 10PM wishes start. We were given the option of 7:20 or 9:45. Every other time block was taken... wow.
11th - Tusker House - no problem
12th - Mama Melrose (all booked!)
13th - Mama Melrose - 4:15 dinner, only thing available ALL day!
14th - San Angel Inn - no problem
