Res system going down this week

The Swan and Dolphin are not Disney owned resorts. So by calling them directly you can book discount rates.

Now if you call Disney they will offer you the rack rates. That would be the same if the system is/was down or not.
:)

My problem is that Disney did not act like any other travel agency and show access to the Swan and Dolphin's discount rates, especially universal things like AAA and "government" rates. They are essentially a travel agency, after all.

I realize that sometimes the inventory sold or made available to resellers can very, but I thought I would point this out at least in this case. I also hope that this does NOT mean that Disney never offers or "sees" the Swan discounts when selliing through its system.

But anyway, good to see the system up. Let us know if you all hear of any problems today.

Also, I would still be interested in knowing how the system's down time may have affected the front desks of the hotels in daily operations (like room assignments, changes, immediate bookings, etc.)...

I called to add a night to my trip (nov 16-20). The price before the system upgrade was going to be about 175 (so said the cast member on the phone). When I called back to actually book it last nite, they told me the diff was 290. I was like uhhhh, thats not what I was quoted.

After reading my order back to me the system had automatically added trip insurance!! BE CAREFUL that you dont overpay!!!

Anyone know how the hotels handled the outage at the front desk? Did it make it a nightmare?

Anyone have an update on how the system is working this week (JPVonDrake, maybe?)?

And anyone have an answer to my last question, about how the hotels handled the down time?

Just curious.

I know for making Payments on line it is still not working I have been try every day 3 to 4 times a day at different times and it keeps giving me an error message.:brick: :brick: :brick:

I was able to do a room only ressie online yesterday with no problem. The system took my payment as well, so I think things are getting back to normal.

Also, ditto about the automagically added insurance. The same thing happened to me when I called to get the balance due on my package. It had increased by $ 120. The first person I spoke with blamed it on the recent tax increase, which I knew sounded fishy. I called back to get an itemized breakdown of my costs, only to find that the insurance had popped up in the past week. Be warned - if you make any changes to a previously booked package, the system seems to add insurance! :lookaroun
