Requesting rooms???

How far in advance can you request a room... or a certain section/building, etc?? I know you can fax a request (is this the preferred way???)

Also, if anyone knows... if we ask for a 50's POP room overlooking Epcot.. do you know if these are preferred and are we putting ourselves far from the buses???

Sorry for my search laziness today... I am sure this has all been asked somewhere. LOL TIA!

At Pop Century they have Preferred Location rooms. They cost about $10 more per night and are worth it if you don't want to walk a long way to the food court and the bus stops.
Request when reserving the room if you want it.
I think the '60's and the '50's are the Preferred Location areas.
(Our Preferred Location room was in the '60's building near the red yo yo.)

I don't think anything at Pop Centruy overlooks something, except the lake, across which you can see the unfinished part of the resort.

Thanks so much!!!

I thought there was a part of the 50's that you could see EPCOT.. I read elsewhere of people watching Illuminations (assuming fireworks) from their room??

was curious if these were preferred rooms or not.. I thought I had read they weren't.. just didn't know if someone knew for sure.

and if we wanted one how far ahead could we request it for the best to chance to get it??

I know I asked the same question back in March of this year after we had returned from our 2nd trip and was told by a cast member who worked at Pop that the rooms are actually assigned the day you check in. I loved our room this past March (the 90's building, ground level with a view of the computer pool, parking lot and the bus lines) and would love to get the same area when we go down in two more years. He basically told me that you can ask for a certain location when you phone to make reservations, but it doesn't necessarily help your chances of getting that room or area. It depends on the availability of that room at the time of your check in.

Doesn't mean that I am not going to still try to get it though.;)

I stayed at POP this past May and didn't pay for a preferred location but did receive a room in the 60's location (behind the giant Play-Doh can) and can confirm that you CAN in fact see Illuminations from the 3rd floor ledge. My girlfriend and I simply walked outside our front door and stood on the balcony-ledge thing and had a magnificent view. We didn't actually see SSE, but you can see ToT. Hope this helps.

If you have a specific room request, definitely tell the CM when making your reservation and they will note it. I haven't tried faxing to the resort a few days prior to check in.. does that ususally help?

From what I understand, faxes are no longer accepted.

We always make our request when we make our reservations and then make sure they are noted when we call about 5 days before we arrive.

Requests are just that, but I have always found that the CM in charge of assignment does their best to oblige. Twice we have been allowed to pick our own room when we checked in because the floor was nearly empty.

We stayed at Pop in April and when we made our reservation my Dh requested a room in the 80's section (because he loves the 80's, I guess it helps him hold onto those carefree teen years:rolleyes: ). Anyway, we always call about 2 weeks prior to our arrival just to confirm everything and he again mentioned his 80's room request. When we got there we had our room in the 80's which was great except for the REALLY long walk to the food court and buses!
