Hi Guys,
I know that nothing can be "guaranteed", but how do I remind the resort which building/island that I like? What works best?
Thanks

We always ask when we make our reservation, and then again when we check in. We have never had any problem getting the building we want. Sometimes we just have to wait to get in the room if we are checking in early.

Ask when booking and again on check in. I usually try to be a bit more open to increase my chances. We usually stay at POR and I request a room in one of the first 3 interior buildings. Interior meaning not near a parking lot. I don't want to hear people slamming car doors late at night. If you are too specific, you might not get anything you want, if you are a little more loose about it your chances will increase.

Also, the earlier you arrive - the better the chance (unless the hotel is sold out) b/c the rooms are preassigned - but there is still a "bank" of rooms to choose from if the hotel isn't sold out - so even if you've been preassigned a different building - the earlier you arrive in the day the better chance you have of choosing one of the rooms from that "bank" that might be in the building you want...

i rang pop century up when i booked it and they said that i was to ring up nearer the time so i rang up the 19/12/05 and asked if i could be put on the 4th floor in any building -they said that they would make a note of this but it wouldnt be guaranteed. when i got there i was put on the 4th floor of the 70's building at the back facing the playground. it took 2 mins to walk to the bus stops. you can only try and see what happens. good luck!!!

I agree with Mrtoad and jesserin.

I usually give them 2 options when I make the request/reservation. (Of which I will be happy with either one) and then remind them when we check in.

And we usually arrive early in the day and check to see if the rooms are ready early. Again many times they are. Although we visit often during off peak times.

I have yet to be turned down on any request I have made. Maybe just lucky, but that takes into account about 15+ visits to WDW resorts.

what we usually do is call a few days before hand, and then call again the day before we check in again. for the most part, it works.

Let me be of some help...

The best time to make requests for specific rooms, buildings, bedding (ie a king bed), smoking or non-smoking, ground-floor, connecting rooms, etc. is when you first book the reservation or as early as possible after your reservation is made. Every request that is noted on a reservation is now time stamped with the date the request is made.

We have been instructed at the Reservation Center that ALL the Resorts will no longer accept any room request faxed to them. If you try to call the resort directly before you check-in, the switchboard is instructed redirect your call to the reservation center, not the front desk.

The resort room coordinators will do their best to honor as many request as possible, but will factor in the date of the time stamp and also the number of request made. For example if you have 10 different request and another guest made 1 or 2 requests, you may get some of the 10 honored, and the other guest may get all of their request honored.

Please also try to be general in your request. If you simply request room 1004 (because you know it is the closest to the bus stop) and it is not available, the resort does not know how to honor it. If you request a room close to the transportation, and room 1004 is not available the resort may assign you room 1005 next door, honoring the general request you made.

Also ask your reservation agent to check to see if what you want is even possible. For example, if you are booked in 2 standard (parking) view rooms at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, and you want connecting rooms, it cannot be honored, as there are no connecting standard view rooms at the Lodge. Also some room categories are all non-smoking, and some are all smoking optional.

Do keep in mind nothing will guarantee you get your request, that really will depend on what rooms are scheduled to be vacant on the date you check-in. Sometimes there are only a few of rooms in your room category for the front desk to choose from.

I hope this help!:sohappy:

If I may paraphrase the old TV show song...

"Oom Digga Digga Oom Pah Pah; Oom Digga Digga Oom Pah Pah; Oom Digga Digga Oom Pah Pah; Oom Digga Digga Doo...
Hooray for Professor Ludwig Von Drake, Ludwig Von Drake, Ludwig Von Drake! He is a genius, make no mistake!"

I wouldn't have remembered it if it wasn't on that five-disc Disney songs collection that I bought a couple of weeks back at the Virgin Megastore at DTD (5 CDs, 125 songs, $33 for the whole shebang!!!)
