Request at Contemporary Resort

This may be a silly question, but DH and I booked a room at the Contemporary, Magic Kindgom view back in March. We requested a King size bed. I understand that it is not guaranteed, so has anyone ever requested something like this and it not work out. I hate to sound unappreciative or conceited but we are much more comfortable in a king bed. I'm worried that we'll check in and the resort will only have double beds. If double beds are the only thing available, I'm afraid we'll have to move to another resort. Any advice or suggestions?

I just returned from my stay at the Contemporary, Tower room, Magic Kingdom view, and we also requested a King. We always got the King bed in the past, however not this time, and when I told them that it was requested long ago, I was told that there are only 6 King Rooms now in the entire resort so that request is almost never filled any more. If that request is very important to you, I would call the Contemporary Resort a week or so before you arrive and speak to the people who do the room assignments.

Yea, I called the Contemporary after reading this post, the CM said that there was 3 MK view standard king size rooms in the tower! He said checking in online would not help our chances. We've already decided if we can't get a king, we'll move to another resort. I will start calling at the ten day mark.

FYI, the Poly is worse, no King rooms there except for the highest end suites.

That's the only reason why we haven't stayed at the Poly. I usually don't complain, but I've been preparing myself that we will be looking for another resort. We're going attempt to check in to the Contemporary, but if our request isn't available, I'll be looking for another resort or sleeping alone in a queen size bed. Ugh, this makes me sick to my stomach . The DH said if we can't get the king at Contemporary, we'll try the GF (wanna try to stay close to MK). If that isn't available, then the Boardwalk.

I'm thinking that since its going to be in September, it will not be as busy or maybe the CM will feel sorry for us and upgrade to club level. We have a 8 hour drive ahead of us on check in day. Maybe I'll drive all night and be at the front desk first thing in the morning.

Honestly, I think you are making a bit too big of a deal about this. Are you really going to let your sleeping arrangement ruin your vacation for you? Think about it...you're going to be UNCONSCIOUS. While I'm sure you're used to sleeping together, if he is going to be tossing and turning I don't see why the idea of sleeping alone in separate queen size beds is making you sick to your stomach. You're not going to notice the difference because you're not going to be awake!

And I don't think it's going to make a difference whether or not you call every day before your trip, seems it would just drive the CMs a bit crazy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe your exact room # is not assigned that far ahead of time. And I've never heard of a CM doing a free upgrade like that. This is a very little thing...you're going to Disney World! Stop worrying!
