Been thinking about this and:
1. Now that this is becoming an office does that mean we can finally knock down the buildings behind Animation Courtyard and build some lands there?
2. kinda impressed they found a use for the building they wasted so much money on, plus could be a really cool office.
1. Probably not, they probably need both office spaces

2. To me, they gave up on the Star Cruiser too quickly and to throw it in our faces that they are going to use it for office space feels like I am being trolled.

Its NOT impressive at all they used it as office space! If they wanted to impress folks, they would have come up with a CREATIVE use like for example A DINNER SHOW. They would have packed them in!

Office space is a weak, lazy way to re use the space.

The dinner show restaurant is now confirmed to be happening as part of galaxys edge proper and everything they do is weak and lazy to you isn’t it?

As for your first point isn’t it at least possible the imagineers use of the space is temporary and the offices from the animation building will move over here eventually

No, weak and lazy is giving up on the Star Cruiser so quickly and making it office space.

Some things I like that are not weak and lazy -
TRON
The expansion of France with Ratatouille
The points of lights on SSE
The return of the spires in front of SSE.
The fact we still have Club Cool (it would have been weak and lazy to let it go away)
The halt and destruction of Harmonious (it would have been weak and lazy to keep it going)
There are other things I like not listed here..

Glad to hear about the dinner show.
That is not weak and lazy!
Were is that going to be and when will it open?

Presumably behind ogas cantina and the starcuiser only had a certain amount of hotel rooms not enough for a standard hotel

As for when it will open I don’t know for sure but I would bet on 2027 at the absolute latest

WDI isn't currently in those buildings. A variety of support roles have their offices in those buildings. Unless they also get moved to the Starcruiser building, another solution will need to be devised.

There's also a number of park ops offices in some of these buildings. There's obvious logistical reasons as to why they need to be close to their operation and can't be all the way in the Starcruiser building.

Was there any official announcement and concept drawings?

I am interested to see if any information exists on this.
There are concept drawings from 2017 and I believe this was confirmed by the same insider that reported the hotel was changing to offices I could see a official announcement at destination d23 and before anyone says “oh this won’t happen” they tend to prioritize things with a direct return on investment

I am sure its possible. Just a guess on my part, Disney simply did not want to give up the office space.

Also, I presume putting Monsters where they are putting it is simply the cheapest way to do it.

There is nothing that requires an office building have curtain walls. Go look at the pre-engineered metal buildings and trailers that make up the other Walt Disney Imagineering offices at Walt Disney World. There are also plenty of concrete buildings with pinched windows being used as offices around Central Florida.
sure - I guess temporary structures/trailers thrown up for makeshift offices can be anything....but....I work for a large media company and visited offices of partners/competitors in many cities - and saying this would easily take the cake for the worst looking, poorest natural lit permanent office building I've ever seen would be the understatement of the century. If I went to work for company with the resources of Disney, suffice it to say I would be less than impressed (from the outside anyways) not because I demand a lot, but simply b/c how far below the expected standard of the industry is.

Disney is not Dunder Mifflin

But I'm sure a company this talented could install natural looking lights in all the spaces just look what they were able to simulate on the Sunset Safari. Nothing but the best for the Imagineers. How is that Nona move working out?

Here are the Imagineering offices at the Stolport which have been there for many years.
