renting points

We were recently going to rent points from someone off of themouseowners website. They booked our rooms for us and gave us confirmation numbers. However, when I asked for a signed contract, they thought the email exchange was enough and didn't want to sign the contract. I decided to cancel the reservation because we just didn't feel comfortable. Do you think I did the right thing? They were only charging 8.00 per point which is very low but I just didn't have a good feeling about it.

If you didn't feel comfortable without a contract, then you did the right thing.

I've rented points 4 or 5 times so far, all from different people from disboards and have never done a signed contract. It's always been through email and paypal. It's never really bothered me not having one. All my rentals have been great too. I usually rent from members who are long standing members of the forum with previous rentals to others so I trust 'em. My next DVC Rental is in 2 weeks at the AKV.

But it's up to you if you want that contract or not. If you want to contract to feel comfortable about the purchase, then certainly get one.

You did the right thing, sometimes you just need to trust those gut feelings! We rented our points last year (actually they just took over our existing reservation) and we had no problem at all with signing a contract. If someone is on the up & up, then they shouldn't have an issue with signing a contract, after all, it protects them too!
