renting points from DVC members

I've rented points two times from DVC members. I think they were $10/point both times, and we got a 1 bedroom preferred view room at the boardwalk both trips.

Depending on the time of year, resort, and room type it can be a great bargain.

A quick comparison.

Say we went to the Boardwalk again around Labor Day for 3 nights (Sept 1-4). It would be 66 points for our 1 bedroom preferred view room. At $10/point it would $660 for the room (1 bedroom, full kitchen, jacuzzi tub, etc..), not including tickets. You also get the DVC member discount when dining at certain restaurants.

Get a room via disney.com at the same resort on the same dates and it'll cost you $975+tax just for a standard view room, also not including tickets.

So quite the bargain. Even at $11/point the room would be $726.

we have rented points for Saratoga Springs from a guy that works for my wife's company...we get the 3 bedroom villa every time and we would not stay anywhere else. We are 10 people now, with the birth of my son and my nephew, and we can all chip in on the costs. Not to mention, the kitchen comes in real handy with breakfast and the tables to eat on . We love it. Renting points has been the greatest thing we have ever done.

Anyone every have any problems with a seller or what not? Any advice for a first timer(Buying DVC points)?

If using the above site, I usually look for members who are active long time members first.

Most will welcome handling reservations over the phone, though I did mine all via email and paid using paypal.

Most will also offer references from previous sales as well. If not, ask for them if you want them.

 We got an Ap discount and stayed at SSR in a 1 BR villa with a DTD view for $370 a night, of course it was NOT the Boardwalk, but still...$660 it outrageous...I'd rather go concierge:wave:
