I know that there are companies there that you can rent electric wheelchairs like Disney has. Someone said that they will have it at your resort when you get there. Can someone give me the names or numbers of a good company to use. I have no idea where to start.

Thanks!!

I see a lot of people rent from Buena Vista rentals, I think that is the correct company name. I cannot tell you about the quality but I will say that if anything goes wrong you have to wait until they can come out to the park and fix it. If you rent from disney a cm can call and switch it out with a new one a lot faster than the company can. Just some fyi

We rented one for my mother in law from Scootorlando.com. We needed one that would fold down or take apart to fit in the back of our minivan (will also fit in a trunk) since we were staying off site. It was very easy to put together and take apart. We needed one also that would hold more weight, so if you just go to google.com and type in scooter rentals in Orlando, FL, tons of sites will come up. We paid about $40 per day....about the same as what Disney charges, but you can use it off site, at your resort, etc. If you have any questions about it, please let me know. We've rented about 5 or more times now for my father in law and now my mother in law. If you are staying on property and want the best scooter, get the Dream from scootorlando.com. It doesn't come apart, but is really all "pimped" out and says to be the most comfortable and best there is out there. They will also come into the park if you are having any problems 24 hrs a day. They recommend that you charge your battery every single night, even if you didn't use it very much that day. They deliver it to the luggage section of the resort. You pick what time to have them deliver and pick it back up. Just make sure the delivery time and pick up time are the same so they don't charge you for an extra day. If we won't be getting there til later that day and don't plan on using it, we have them deliver it at like 9 pm and then have them pick it up at 9 pm the night before you're scheduled to leave so you don't get charged an extra day. We first started renting through Disney, but you aren't guaranteed a scooter since they are first come first serve and if you switch parks, you can get another chair, but only if they have one fully charged. A lot of times we found that they didn't have any, so we started renting from outside. Plus you can take them on the buses which you can't do with Disney's.

I think I'll have to rent one myself while I'm there in September. I'll be 7 months pregnant and just to be able to keep up with my son and husband and to help save some of my energy and help with the heat, we're thinking I should have one. I know people will say whatever about me getting one "just because I'm pregnant" but we think it'll be best for me.

Yes, you need to do what is best for you. Congratulations on the new baby!!

We are actually going to need two for my parents. My stepdad has had a hard time lately with falling, and I'm not taking any chances at Disney. He has already had one real bad concussion. The other is for my mom who will be having ankle surgery after the trip. So, needless to say, they would both be better off with a chair. It's that, or they should stay at home.

Thank you for your information, I'll search online too and see what I can find. If anyone else has a name of a good company with good customer service please let me know.

I just did a google search myself for you and found this one.

http://www.discountmobilityusa.com/land_scooter_rentals.htm

It's $175 for a week. They also have canopy's that you can add for an additional $15 per week per scooter. Might help with that Florida sun to help shade them a bit. My mother in law didn't care for the canopy since she's a bigger lady and it would cut into her where it attaches to the scooter, but I would think if your parents are of "normal" size, then they would have no problem with it. You can also remove it yourself if it's bothersome.

This is the site that we rented from last year.

http://www.scootorlando.com/

Their prices range from $25-40 per day, depending on what type of scooter would fit your parents best. They all have different weights on them, so make sure to know roughly how much they weigh, cuz they ask you. All these (except the "dream" will fold down to fit in a trunk, etc. IF you are driving, and don't have one already, try to get a handicapped placecard. This will let them park very close to park gates and save YOU lots of walking! If you don't or can't get one, try for the AAA parking pass. You can buy them right off ebay for pretty cheap and you park right behind the handicapped parking.)

Good luck finding the right place to rent from!

My grandparents rented theres from Buena Vista Scooters this past christmas. They were about $10 cheaper a day than Disneys and they could ride them at the resort. My grannys had a problem(not a big one, it had a jerk when you started to go) one afternoon and when we called they had one waiting at the resort when we got there 2 hours later. Plus they have a store on proporty at the Boardwalk. Plus, there were about 6 different models to choose from.

Thank you so much!! I found a couple of places too and it looks like they are 30.00 a day, which is saving them 15.00 each a day so that's good. I am so happy that they are giving in and going to do this. :) They did ask me about their weight, and they are fine for a regular one. They do have a parking pass so that's good. We will mostly be riding the bus so no problems there. They told me to call about a month out to reserve them.
