Renting DVC Points - How brokers get points

We have rented points through David's a couple times, and we have nothing but good experiences.

I am currently trying to rent points for a split stay this summer (Boardwalk/Poly), and I am on the wait list for points to come available for the Poly stay. I've been waiting a cople weeks, and I am a couple weeks from falling into the 7 month window. I don't really know if that will help or hurt me...

My question is, do the brokers have to wait for sellers to approach them individually or is there a pool that they all have access to? If the sellers have to go straight to a specific broker, then which brokers tend to have the most points to work with?

Owners approach the brokers if they have points to rent out.

The two main brokers are David’s (DVCRequest) and DVC Rental Store.

Of these, on principle I have only used David’s. Last time I checked I think David’s paid owners a little more but they also take much less of a cut. The Rental Store do a lot more confirmed reservations and increase the price per point on them so that the broker makes more profit.

This is good to know, thx. Looking to rent out our points at the end of next year since we're not going as much as in the past.

Does anyone know if Davids works with anything other than PayPal? I don't want to set up an account just for renting out points. DVC Rental store appears to have different options but I'm having a hard time getting something set up with them.

I think David’s only use PayPal. That’s why I set up my account too- it comes in handy when I need to pay in USD, mostly I just use it once or twice a year.

David is based in Canada, so that may be a contributing factor to why he only uses PayPal.

I’ve always thought that too.

It means anyone can do business with them. Whereas Venmo, for example isn’t an option for those of us in the UK (at least not without a foreign bank account).

The Rental Store never used to accept owners from the UK. Now they claim they do but only if you already have an IRS account - which can only be done if you have a US income. A classic Catch 22 situation. 🙄
