Renting a car for a day

Hi everyone. We'll be in Disney world toward the end of May, we'll be staying at Old Key West. My son wants to do a day in Lego Land, in order to do that I think I'll rent a car. My question is, what's the best way to do that? Does the rental place pick us up at the resort and take us back to the rental car, then after we're done shuttle us back to the resort? Or do they drop off the cars to you at your resort etc? I've never rented in disney before so I'm just looking for tips on how to make it as smooth a process as possible. Thanks!

Renting a car from the WDW Car Care Center is easy. Make a reservation from Alamo or National. Your reservation
document will show a phone number to call for a shuttle pickup or from a resort phone ask the operator to connect
you to the Car Care Center. After returning the car, the Center they will shuttle you back to the resort.
Oh great, so basically just wake up the morning of my reservation, call the rental center and tell them I'm ready to be picked up, they send the shuttle and take me back to the rental car and I'm on my way. Then afterwards I bring the rental directly to the rental center, and they'll bring me back to the resort. Correct? Sounds easy enough! Thank you!

You got it! However, you need to call and schedule your pick up time at least an hour prior to your
car reservation. The customer service person will give you one or two pick up time options
close to you reservation time..

Will you need car seat(s) for any passengers. You probably will want to specify that when making all communications with the rental people. It would suck for the shuttle to arrive without sufficient safety seats if any are needed.

Yeah probably a booster seat if they'll do that. He'll be fine on the bus/shuttle, but I'd like him to have a booster in the rental.

If you don't have an early morning the following day, you could also keep the car overnight, return it first thing the next day and have the shuttle drop you off at a park. Alternatively, try using the CCC as your pickup and the Dolphin as your return. You can then walk/boat to Epcot or Studios for the day.

If you prefer a rental company other than Alamo/National, most major rental companies have a desk at one of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd by Disney Springs. Some (but not all) offer shuttle service, too.

Hmmmm that might be something to think about, the following day is an Epcot day for us. Thanks for the tips!
