Renovated WL room

I stayed in room 5024 at the Wilderness Lodge last week. I had never stayed at WL before, but our bell hop said the hall had just reopened and we were amongst the first people to stay on it. I didn't have much time to take pictures before my kids messed up the room, but here is what I got from my phone.

From what I could tell without going on other floors, the wallpaper in the hall was removed and the hall carpet was replaced - at least the carpet on our hall looked different than the carpet on the first floor. I don't know what was different about the room except that my sister said she didn't remember having animals in her shower. The bathroom definitely smelled like a new shower curtain for the first couple days :)

There was a lot of construction noise both above and below us during the day, it made napping a challenge when we took a break from the parks.

I definitely don't recall characters in the shower with me ((blush)) last September. I like them, tho! ((double blush)) Seriously, I like the whimsy. Looooove the bedding! Yes, it's simple white but it's not a scratchy Motel 6 bedspread! Yaaaaaayyyyy!!!!!! Now that my biggest hang-up at WL is addressed I would totally be thrilled to stay there again. Well, if we were planning to go to WDW.... LOL!

That looks great, DH is on the fence about the GF because of the construction so WL is his second choice, he'll like the new tiles and I know my DD will too.

animals in shower and the faux wood plank tiles are definitely new. Thanks for the pics! Too bad you don't have more. We've stayed at WL many many times so if you have any pictures of the room itself I would be able to notice other furniture, decor, setups that have been updated.

Thanks!

New pillowcases I see... and curtains (i think). Furniture looks to be the same as well as the light fixtures that I can see. It's a little disappointing that the linens on the bed are now white. I TOTALLY understand why most hotels are moving to this, but the bright white linens kind of clash with the overall darker tones of the room decor...will miss the look of the old bedspreads. Couldn't they have gone to like a dark cotton sheet-covered bedspread? It does look like both the carpet when you come in and in the rest of the room is new too. Nice to see this resort getting a refresher!

I love the towel animals! And the showers have definitely changed. I stayed at WL in 2010. I didn't have any complaints then, but this looks awesome!

So no more bedspreads?
I really disliked the colors they used during the last refurb. Dark green trim, brownish bedspreads and hideous blue jean & rust color drapes.

i'm glad to see the old bedspreads gone though...i can't help but imagine how many times they've been thrown on the floor then right back on the bed (eeeewie). we haven't stayed at wl since the mid-late 90s and they had the old rough wood looking bed frames, kind of sad seeing them gone but the room looks very pretty.

A nice improvement! Suprised they don't at least have coverlets though - like the Yach Club rooms do.
I'm wondering if it's part of the new "wash between every guest" policies many resorts are doing now. As we all know, comforters used to be disgusting and routinely not washed with each guest as an industry norm. Now, a lot of resorts across the board have changed that policy and wash them just like the sheets. Perhaps switching to an all white bed dressing means it can all be washed together with existing laundry facilities and processes?

If that's the case I'm all for it!!!! I like the white anyway - white, to me, feels more clean.

Some places i have stayed in recently were essentially wrapping a down duvet type thing in a pair of flat sheets. I'm assuming they then washed the sheets on a regular basis, and used them to protect the duvet thing. The sheeting keeps you separate from the duvet thing, and can be easily washed.

In the picture with the towel Mickey, the fact that you can see both a sharp crease down the middle, and a fainter pattern of squares in the upper side close to the pillows would lead me to think these are the same type of thing. Unless that crease in the middle is really a seam (which would strike me as a bit tacky for a deluxe).
