Renewing Vows on a Disney Cruise

Anyone done this or been present for it?

Going with my extended family in February to celebrate my parents 50th anniversary and wondering what it entails, what it costs, etc.

Would love to hear what it's all about so we can better decide whether
or not to do it.

Thanks!

Vow renewals on the cruise are treated the same as weddings. I'm planning a DCL wedding on CC right now, and they treat it as an add on to your cruise reservation. On-board ceremonies are at Deck 7or one of the lounges and cost $2500. CC costs $3500. 2 on board and 1 CC ceremony can be performed each trip. The guest limit is 20 for most locations, but depedning on where you have it they may allow you to have more for an additional $20/person with children under 3 free. The package includes the ceremony, bouquet and boutonnière for the couple, 2 tier cake, 1 bottle of champagne or sparkling cider, a $100 on board credit, concierge service, and 1 bottle of champagne with chocolate covered strawberries delivered to the room. Here's a link for more info:

Eegads. $2500.00. That settles that, then.

I think we'll just toast 'em on the beach at Castaway Cay and be done with it! The cruise is spendy enough as it is!

Thanks for that info, though!

$2,500 is extremely reasonable compared to weddings at WDW. It's a viable option for us if we were to get serious about a VR. Much more so than the $5k or more it'd take to do something basic at WDW.

Reasonable is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. This isn't a wedding.
I think we'll stick with letting the cruise line know it's an anniversary so they can sing it at the table or something.

And later we'll be on land and doing Hoop Dee Doo, and they do a great job
with anniversaries!

True. I was just saying if you compare the cruise thing to the minimum you can get by with at WDW it's actually considerably less in cost.

I've always wanted to do a VR at WDW but just haven't brought myself to fork out that kind of money for it. Same reason I've never upgraded my little ol' diamond ring that I didn't get until I'd been married for 9 years (prior to that I just wore my wedding band). Whenever I look at that amount of money I think: That's a family trip for ___ days...or...that's a washer, dryer, dishwasher, AND refrigerator...or...that's braces for insert kid's name. We got married in my in-law's living room with family & friends present. The entire wedding including blood tests (it was a looooong time ago), what we wore, food, wedding bands, etc. we spent a total of about $275. We just didn't have money or anything when we started out. ((Literally...I owned my clothes & he had a 2nd hand bedroom set, a 13" tv, and a 10 year old pick-up truck that didn't even have working a/c.)) My dad wasn't even at my wedding let alone willing to pay for one and my mother didn't have that kind of money. ((Neither of my parents approved of my getting married at 19 years old but I you know how 19 year olds know everything...LOL!)) My in-laws didn't have $$ to spend on a wedding either. The hubby & I wanted were in a situation where neither of our parents could help us with college tuition in the fall. In those days taking out loans was never something we would/could consider. Both our fathers made too much money to qualify for grants...but if we were married our parents' income wouldn't be considered in our applications. So we did what we could, had a nice little wedding on a Saturday, went to the beach for one night as a "honeymoon", then came back home to be in class on Monday. I've always wanted to do a VR at WDW just us & our boys. My hubby even bought me this wedding gown I had been dreaming of for my birthday last year. He wanted me to have my princess dress even if I never got to wear it. I don't need others to be there so no need to do a lot of entertaining. A VR would be just for us...then maybe a nice dinner. But when I get to looking at those numbers I can't help but think if we were down there that kind of money could make the trip there that much longer!

So, yeah, I understand where you see $2500 & think "heavens, NO!".

We are renewing for our 10th next summer. We thought on the beach by the Poly would be perfect. Then we will go for a nice dinner afterwards with our 2 sons....like a family renewal ceremony.
