Some good points were made though :)

Thanks.

Other thoughts:

Once on the ride, it felt a little rushed, to be honest. I understand why, as it follows some of the fast-paced parts of the movie, I just wish they could have figured out how to slow things down a bit and let riders see/enjoy things a bit more, which would also stretch out the ride time. Conversely, a longer ride would have allowed for more story-telling and a less rushed feel. Your mileage may vary.

Re-rideability is decent, as there is a lot to take in.

I liked the orange smell. :) It added a little something, and was appreciated.

It was rather fascinating to watch each ride vehicle moving independently from the others, without a track. Something of a poetry-in-motion sort of thing. :)

Hope that wasn't too negative...

In terms of overall experience and/or enjoyment level, what at DL or WDW would you say is its closest comparison at the moment?

I know people would kill me for this here, but I would say around/above HM. To me, HM is inferior to Phantom Manor, and Ratatouille is really quite a fun ride (at least, I enjoy it and it has a nice re-rideability I feel).

edit: I get it, it's two entirely different rides, two entirely different scales being discussed. I still stand that Phantom Manor >>> HM. I will go re-ride Rat in a couple of days or so, just so I can re-assess this. I've done HM 3 weeks ago.

I'm struggling to think of a comparison. All I can say is that I found the ride immensely enjoyable--probably my favourite attraction during my last visit to Disneyland Paris. I think it'll make a wonderful addition to WDW.

I went to Paris for the first time earlier this month. It was simply magical. Of course, being a Disneyphile, I made sure DLP was on the itinerary. I have to say, I was a bit underwhelmed with both parks (I now completely understand the disdain for Walt Disney Studios...it was a mini-Hollywood Studios, which (until the recent ongoing improvements) has been in dire need of updates for decades. Even in the main park, everything felt like a third-generation photocopy of the American parks. The "Disney" feeling was there, but not as strong. It just lacked the nuisance and detail of both DL and MK. It certainly made me re-appreciate my home base WDW and even DL (which I have visited once in 2015). Ratatouille is a cute attraction, nothing spectacular, but it will certainly be a welcome addition to World Showcase, which could still use another 2-3 ride attractions.

I would say Frozen Ever After is a worthy comparison. Cute, but not groundbreaking. Whoever compared it to HM should be flogged lol.
Perhaps it wasn't the best comparison, HM is not the same scale... Forget about this! Never done FEA so I can't say. It's somewhere well above the "Fantasyland classic 4" but quite below the other trackless dark rides I've experienced. There's not really anything comparable, but it's still lovely.

Wow.

Yes, as much as I enjoyed Ratatouille, it really can't compare to HM, which is in a league of its own. That said, I much preferred Ratatouille to Frozen Ever After, and I'd even go so far as to call it highly original (not to say groundbreaking). It is, of course, all a matter of taste and opinion, but I think more people than not will appreciate this particular addition to Epcot.

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Paris but saddened to hear that DLP left you underwhelmed. I personally think the main park is stunning and in some respects thematically and experientially superior to its American counterparts. What it's missing is that certain "magic" that pervades the American parks and is created in large part by the CMs (and I say this as a Brit). The DLP CMs are far more nonchalant and do almost nothing to curtail antisocial behaviour (especially guests smoking outside designated areas).

I'd like to think that Rat will be a slightly better attraction than Frozen (although I have never ridden the Rat in Paris) Frozen is really C type attraction in my book.

I can heartily agree with you about Disney Studios...It always felt half-baked, but the main Disneyland Paris park does not feel like a third generation photocopy to me... All the Disney parks around the world have that "Same as, but different" feel to them...Some more than others... Disneyland Paris did a lot of things better than it's cousins... Their version of Main Street feels so much more complete and detailed than WDW...which seems to feel less like a town and more than just a huge mega mart. The castle itself has gorgeous details, the projection , firework, and fountain show is head and shoulders above WDW's version (which is funny because it was designed for WDW, and TDO passed on it). The Frontierland of the park has tons of extraneous detail...much more than WDW's Frontierland... Phantom Manor is wonderful and promises to be even more so when it comes out of refurnbishment. Pirates of the Caribbean feels like the most complete of all the different versions (When the effects are all working ) and Adventure Isle is beautifully done and the best iteration of the Tom Sawyer's Island concept...
on the not so great side, they seem to have a problem with keeping up with maintenance on the show scenes in some attractions...Sometimes effects are not up to full show standards. There are some missing attractions here and there...and their Tomorrowland could use a lot more expansion, but in general, the park is hyper detailed and very charming...

I think the problem with Paris is that it is missing some classic rides that its cousins have. But yes I love their version of Sleeping Beauty Castle much more than DL's and also the landscaping is impeccable.
