Removing Motorhome TOAD with only one driver

Good day all. I have a question for all that have stayed at the Fort. I will be traveling in August and will be staying at the campsites. We are very familiar with the Fort and love all of the benefits it provides. This will be the first time that we will be bringing our RV Toad (RV Toad is a vehicle that is towed behind your motorhome, hence the nickname Toad). I am familiar with the pull off lanes on Fort Wilderness Trail, but the challenge this time is I will be arriving with only one legal driver. My wife and oldest which also is a legal driver will be flying to MCO (left over pandemic flight credits). The rest of the family is coming in the RV. Does anyone know what WDW recommends for individuals like this? My thought is to pull into overflow parking and remove the TOAD and leave there till I can return and pick up, or actually can have my wife pick it up when she arrives at the Fort. If anyone has done this or has another recommendation that would be great.

I can't see how it would be any issue leaving the car there in the overflow lot.

I think you’re right on target with your idea @fvrs7189. We’re going there in May again, and in our past trips, the overflow parking lot is full of all kinds of vehicles and trailers. As a side note, once you unhook your Toad in the overflow lot, you could set your RV up, then take the internal shuttle bus back and pick it up. You’ll have an awesome time at FW. Did you consider renting a golf cart? If not, it may be a good idea to reserve one early. They’re quite popular.

Thank you all for your response. I will plan on taking it off in the overflow lot. @Raxel7851, yes we certainly have considered renting a golf cart. This is my 3rd time going to the Fort and we really love it. The first time we had a golf cart, then last year we were in a different camper (travel trailer) and had the tow vehicle to take and found that besides MK, driving was actually nice. The cost of the golf cart to us unless you are going around the Fort alot was just too much. We also have our bikes if needed.

Those golf carts are a tad pricey. We try and reserve a preferred spot in the 100, 200, 300 loops. We did rent a cart on our last visit, but this time we’re bringing our E-bikes. It’s a lot of fun riding thru the campground checking out the different loops, especially at Halloween and Christmas!

Last year we got the 700 loop and loved it. It is probably our favorite. Previously we were in the 1200 area. At the 700 loop like the 100-300 you can walk to the boat to get to MK or Contemporary. Then we actually drove to the other parks as you have free parking. We are rope droppers so we get decent parking on all of the lots.
