Millions of guests are impacted by this visual eyesore and it ruins aesthetic of Main Street USA. The crane behind Cinderella's castle should be removed

The crane is there from Jan-Feb every year. They do more work with it during the week when it is less busy and it is barely even visible during the weekends or when it is more busy. If it is really that much of an eyesore, I suggest you plan your visits for another time during the year.

I hear people complaining about every time I am at Disney and it is so annoying to hear. We just won't get Christmas lights on the castle if you don't want to see the crane. They have to get put up somehow, taken down somehow, and the castle has to be painted once they are taken down. I feel bad for people that only come once in a lifetime and it is there, but they could have picked a different time to come.

Thanks but we have gone for 30 years and the crane wasn't there for most of that time. They found a way to hang and remove lights without it. There are a lot of smart creative people at WDW, I know there must be another way.

No they didn't. The dream lights were first installed in 2006 I believe and a crane has been used every year.

It's just a bummer for anyone, not just us. It was really busy last week and so many people were talking about it. It's always an option to do nothing and just let it slide. I'd rather see the place preserved for everyone all year.

It's just one of those things that people who like to complain...will. People complain when the parks look bad, or a ride doesn't function or look good, but then complain when that ride gets closed for renovations. Does it stick out...yes. Should it ruin your vacation or day...not at all.

MK wasn't open as late 30 years ago as it is now. Heck, it wasn't open late as often as it is now 5 years ago. In January 2010 it was open later than 9 pm a total of 5 times. In 2015 it was open later than 9 pm a total of 10 times in January. Now there are a good amount of days where MK is open 8 or 9 am until 12-2 am. Some nights they only have about 5 hours to do it without guests seeing it since it takes time to get guests our at closing and guests show up early for opening. Park hours have increased, and that isn't even factoring in EMH that end up being at MK a good portion of the nights throughout the year. Also, don't forget the lights don't come down until what, the second week of January?

Glad you had the info I didn't haha. :)

It can be preserved all year, just won't get Disney putting lights on the castle for special events. I bummed me out the first time I saw it and then I got over it. Honestly, I go to MK and don't even see the castle or take the time to look at it most days. I also have to point out that other than select weekends this time of year, like Presidents Day Weekend, the parks are dead in January and February. I have gone probably 12-15 different days already and barely have even had to used FastPasses this year other than this past weekend and on New Years Day.

You don't think there is a better way? Limiting it to after hours perhaps? They decorate after hours, why not remove decorations after hours?
What other way would you recommend? Having a bunch of guys anchored down and scalling the castle at night? I'm not sure that'd be very safe. Since you're bringing this up...you've obviously seen the crane and how big it is. It's not exactly something that can be hidden...

I agree. It didn't ruin the vacation but as it's the center of the park it is a lot more noticeable than a closed ride. We love WDW and will always go back. Just a bummer I guess, and seems lazy that with all the smart minds over there they can't come up with a better way.

Do you know how much effort it takes to get that crane(s) into position? Or were you too busy using this site for your petition to look first?
Sorry, I'll take it down. Didn't think it would offend or was inappropriate on this particular site. Don't really know that the amount of time the crane takes to put up means anything though

There is always going to be some form of construction going on during the year. It happens. The crane, as I said, tends to be up during the week and is definitely not up all day. This was taken in January. The crane was there, but obviously not in use right then

I'm sure Disney receives enough complaints about the crane that if there were a way around having the crane, they'd find it.

Like I said, if you don't want to see the crane, it's not always up; you can go at other points during the year. If you go in early January (week after New Years) the ice will be there, and it makes the castle look absolutely spectacular.
