Remember When?

My family has T-Shirts going back to the 70's that get regular wearing. They just don't seem to wear out. Not a bad product. Hopefully the quality will continue to stand up and that they don't begin cutting quality here.
They have cut the quality of the tees over the years. Looking at shirts from long ago to the mostly thin fabric stuff that being sold today there’s no comparison. You can still find some product that is sturdy but you have to look hard to find those items that are better quality, and then the price is much higher.

Advertising doesn't have to reach non-customers to be effective. McDonald's, Pepsi, and Kleenex all advertise, even though just about everyone has tried their products.

(Having Coke products served at WDW is itself a kind of advertising. )

Disney customers constantly seeing the Disney logo while at WDW reinforces the image in our memory. The more we associate the WDW logo with happy memories (like going on a ride), the more we want to return.
For those products that you can get elsewhere that is probably true. If you are using a napkin with WDW embossed on it that is just a needless expense. You are already there they don't need entice you to go anymore. And it's only purpose is to take food particles off your face, clean up a spilled soft drink or clean baby vomit or bird poop off you head or shoulder. It's not like you can go to Macy's and buy a WDW paper napkin.

This, of course, is not the only reason for a detail like printed napkins. A thousand little things all add up to making guests feel like the entire Disney vacation was worth the price they paid.

OK, if it had that impact fine, but the lack of throw away souvenirs never once took away from my enjoyment. To each his own I guess. Plus if you want to really do the math 1000 insignificant nothings don't add up to anything. There were more than enough huge things to add up to where it's at now. The same thing would have happened even if they still had embossed napkins.

BTW, if anyone is keeping score the powdered soap didn't leave because of money saving. If you look at the calendar that happened shortly after the big Anthrax terrorist scare. Anthrax looked just like that Soap Powder and could have easily been substituted if someone wanted to do it. Not to mention the fact that liquid soap was probably not much less than the powder if not more, plus it was easier to keep dry and to store than that powder was. Not every change was a bad thing.
