(not sure if this was the right section to post this but here goes...)

I have few memories from my early trips to the parks as a kid, one was this part, loved it as a kid. Opening all the boxes, going under the steamroller. Anyone have any pictures from the area? I havent really seen too many on here.

Also what year did they close it down, and whats there now? I remember going in the area it was in last time just cant remember what it was.

I do remember this area a little. They had an area where you could dress up in a costume and they would take a picture and then edit in Benny the Cab after. My parents still have that picture with my sister and myself (I think I was 6 or 7 and she was 9 or 10). I really want to say that it used to be where Pixar Place is, but I am not sure.

The area is still there...You don't realize it. It's the exiting area of the Backlot Tour right after you pass the Monsters Inc M&G. It now sells generic merch many of the props have been removed..The Steam Roller is out on the Backlot Tour and the other props are high up on the shelves..

I remember!! That was sooo cool! They had the steamroller crashed through the building. The dip machine was on the last part of the backlot tour on the Streets of New York. All those boxes with sound effects. Mr. Van opens one on the Disney MGM Studios Grand Opening show. I have a photo somewhere of me beside the weasels police car. It was on TV the other night and I was telling my fiancee all about it. :)

i remember it! i bought a taz in there. and we got our pic taken dressed up sitting in a car. even had our pic under the steamroller. i remember all kinds of toon plush characters. it was there at least back about 17 yrs ago.
but that was way back when back lot tours took you behind and into the neighborhood.

i loved that place and miss it.

We made a plexiglass cutout photo at the photo store of my dad posing with Jessica Rabbit for his birthday, back when those were popular.

As the co-creator of a redhead social network, I'd really like to have the opportunity to take a photo with Jessica, she has quite a following among us.

I thought the steamroller photo-op thing was one of those very uniquely Disney opportunities too. Wish the place was still as it was and look forward to riding the Roger Rabbit ride in California someday.

Awesome, I knew I was not the only one who missed this. When did they change over the area? was it after the name change of the studios?

Would love to see any other pictues people have, It really takes me back.

Not to direct traffic away from this site, but can anyone recommend any sites dedicated to the attractions of old? Or maybe even a section on this one I overlooked, though Im kind of looking for a more detailed , in depth fan perspective. (not that this site is not those things, Im just looking for more detail and insight)

According to Walt Dated World's website the store was called the Loony Bin.
The Loony Bin: Shop among wood cut outs of Roger Rabbit, Jessica, and weasels. Watch out for the steamroller that just crashed into the building and listen to boxes that contain various sound effects inside.

Here's another picture I found..of the Jessica Rabbit standee.

Speaking of Roger Rabbit, is it just me or has he completely disappeared out of the parks?

Nope, not just you. I think once Roger Rabbit disappeared from SpectroMagic, his presence in the WDW parks has been pretty much nil (although he's fared better at Disneyland). I kind of think he hasn't kept up as well in terms of audience familiarity as many of Disney's other characters, even ones that are decades older than the Roger Rabbit characters. Shame, really...

I remember this area right well! And the only reason he is faring better at Disneyland than at WDW is because of a little something called... oh, I don't know, maybe... ROGER RABBIT'S CAR TOON SPIN! It's a wonder people are familiar with the ride, but not necessarily with the characters. It must have something to do with the novelty of spinning your ride vehicle.

Personally, I blame the whole Disney-Spielberg legal battle.

I know it would never happen now but a ride based on the movie would be great, going into toontown, being chased by the weasels, could have been fun. I miss the old cartoons, think I might have to watch the movie tonight, I love how all the "extras" in the movie are characters from the old movies looking for work. The whole idea was great.

Well, If they did do the Maroon cartoon Studios that was planned on Sunset Blvd..They would have had Baby Herman's Runaway Buggy ride and
Roger Rabbit's Toontown Trolley...
