Sweet! I hope POD really does return! I personally like POD at night but I could live with only a day performance :-)

I assume this would be officially announced in the press release the end of this month?

I would assume so, the press day is April 24 I think and its suppose to also include info on Electrical Parades enhancements, the new dragon and other enhancements coming to Fantasmic! as well as Magical.

Based on what i've read so far, the new "Magical" fireworks show will be a temporary replacement until the new 55th fireworks show next year. I guess it will be similar to what took place before "Remember" premiered - anybody remember the "Imagine" fireworks?

Al also confirmed that this summer we will see a new Fantasmic dragon along with new Flotsam and Jetsam.

Oh gosh! I hope it will be nothing like "Imagine". That was my least favorite display at DL.

I have it on good authority (my neighbor who works in TDA and who was over for sunset cocktails tonight) that Remember will run through Memorial Day Weekend, and then Magical! debuts around June 5th. There's some sort of big media event for the summer promotion (that my neighbor said Al Lutz totally nailed correctly in his update this week) the second week of June, and then Magical! will perform nightly through the rest of summer.

Anyone remember Fantasy In The Sky that ran for roughly 40 years? From 1958 when Walt first started regular fireworks (in summer only) until 1999, Fantasy In The Sky was it. And it only ran for about 12 weeks of the year; 10 weeks in summer and maybe 2 weeks for Easter Vacation. Disneyland didn't do a thing with fireworks at Christmas until 2001.

They changed the music for Fantasy In The Sky about once a decade, maybe adding in a recent Disney movie jingle, and obviously changed the shells and format for them. But overall it remained fairly constant for the last half of the 20th century; a 7 minute fireworks show that was basically operated under the guiding principle of "Send up a bunch of shells while we play some music over the PA system. And make the Finale' really loud!".

We've become very, very spoiled when it comes to fireworks in the American parks.

I was amazed on a recent Japan trip to find Tokyo Disneyland still doing a 7 minute long cheesy Fantasy In The Sky fireworks show, even now. And Hong Kong does some sort of corny thing with only low-level pyro due to some restriction there on regular high flying pyro shells. Apparently the Communists don't think highly of American style fireworks shows. What kind of fireworks does Paris do? Anything comparable to Anaheim or Orlando?

Paris used to have Wishes, which ran from 2005-2007 just in the summer. Then last year they premiered The Enchanted Fireworks, which is basically fireworks set to the Enchanted soundtrack, with projections onto the castle as well.
They also have fireworks on St. Patrick's day, etc. and some at halloween.

Never seen it live, but...

Castle LASERS and projections. Both are VERY cool and provide for a amazing effect. The pyro, however...:lookaroun Eh. It's there. Launches (for a normal show) only come from the sides of the castle and it's very low level and not synched that well.

However, when they get clearance on a holiday or event to do a FULL show with back launches and high altitude launches in addition to the side pyro, THAT's a show.:D DLRP's Caldlebration for the 15th was amazing.:D
