It always surprised me these were still in operation, or at least not been completely outsourced. In the this overly litigious paranoid era, the idea that Disney would take responsibility for children left alone in their care seemed pretty amazing.

The babysitting service is available via a third-party, giving parents a fine option if they want to go out.

And yet it will likely remain on Disney Cruise Lines. Maritime Law precludes almost all claims while out to sea and Disney has opted not fly American Flags on their ships exempting themselves from litigation of American Law so likely those parent-less care centers will remain. But in Disney's defense I had my children in Daycare Centers each for 5 years, it really isn't any different liability wise, if anything Disney likely was more cautious. I'm believing it is more Disney not finding it profitable and ultimately consolidating it to non Disney 3rd party is more a financial decision over liability concerns.

I hear this is cost cutting due to a large amount of resources having to be diverted to control the numerous gangs of roaming wild dogs staying at hotels...

I hear the child care buildings will be renovated into new jail houses to control the unending tide of these gangsta pooches... :cautious::cautious::cautious::cautious:

Another resort guest perk goes the way of the dodo bird.

It wasn't a perk because it was pay...however, a $600 room at the 1969 constucted Polynesian motor lodge seems like they could have covered it somehow...

I do agree that from a legal standpoint, disney wouldn't like them. People see deep pockets at disney and will go after them.

I don't know what the settlement was for the alligator incident...but I thought that the parents were dignified and didn't do what is usually standard: blame disney till the cows come home.

This company has a bunch of clowns running it. You have parents that want to enjoy the adult offerings you promote without kids and unless you pay a baby sitter to hangout in your room you just took away the ticket to a more enjoyable vacation. btw... $100 for 8 hours to watch twin 5 year olds girls for the night was a bargain. I would have paid $200. Do your homework Disney

It is ironic they are encouraging people to bring dogs to be pent up in rooms...but don't want options to have kids watched for a place that has 267 bars

I remember spending quite a few evenings at the Polynesian one as a kid in the 80s...the happiest day of my your WDW life was when I was old enough to get a few dollars to hang out at the Contemporary arcade instead of the babysitters.

Wow, I was just talking to my wife about how awesome it would be for us to have a night out while at Disney since they offer daycare. We haven't been since we had our son and this was something we were looking forward to. Very disappointing.

You can still have a night without your son. You just have to wait about 20 years. LOL :p

Great. Just Great.
No more date night at Disney for the parents.
I’m not going to have my children cooped up in a small hotel room for several hours. Forget that.

Disney just peed in my Cheerios!
They don't have to stay in the room. They will take them out and around the resort and even take them swimming if your are comfortable with it. Besides, your children will be grown in a blink of an eye. Then you can have all of the date nights you can handle.

That arcade was the best. I have so many happy memories of that place!

Last summer was my first experience with this...14 year old and twin 12s. "We are going out for a fancy dinner...have fun at the parks, stick together, you all have our phone numbers and know where to go when the park closes."

That is such a good feeling...Good test for them to be independent, create their own memories and get time to do their own thing. Also great, as a parent, to get a night off from the "teen" stuff.

I felt so empowered when I was about 8 and my parents let my 13 yo brother and I go to MK by ourselves. That was the 80s though and I suspect someone would call security or the cops over that today.

I have 2 teens and on our last trip I kept telling them that they can go off together and I would be just fine by myself for a while(daddy could not make this trip). They never did. They stuck to my side like glue. LOL I will enjoy them these last few years because I know it will not last, that is what I keep telling myself. ;)

Exactly that will not last long in very short time they will have no interest in you and you will miss it.

Most enjoyable morning was EPCOT, right when WS opened...We looked around Morocco, had coffees in the sun and ate baklava. The kids wandered off to Japan, used snack credits on Sushi and had fun talking Anime with the employees in Mitsukoshi. It was wonderful.
